I am unabashedly anti imperialism, this is what attracted me to Ron Paul in the beginning and this is what sustains me in this movement. I do not or have ever confessed to agreeing with the communist activities associated with Che. My love for him ends where his love for communism and big govt begins.

Go over to Democratic Underground with a picture Reagan and spout something like "I agree with the strong gun control policy he instituted in California!" and you'll be booted before you finish typing because they're not mucking around. Their mission is clear - it exists to support Democrat philosophy and candidates. There's nothing Conservative or Libertarian about Che.

Guevara was influenced by Guatemala's politics in the early 1950s, some of which centered around the United Fruit Company. There is actually a society dedicated to the fruit company, which is called the United Fruit Historical Society. The website gives a decent overview, and I think the 1950s developments with Arbenz is a very intriguing story.
By the way, the United Fruit Company was eventually melded into Chiquita.

Although I disagree with Jules using Che as an Avatar, I really like him as a poster. A lot of the "contrarians" tend to either not give personal views or pretend to be something that they are not. With Jules, I see him as honest, I know where he's coming from, where he stands and why. I can respect that even when I disagree.
As for Che, I understand the antipathy towards imperialism. Most of what bad comes our way comes from a direct reaction from meddling done in our name. However, sporting a Che picture is like having a Hitler picture as you stand against communism or a Stalin or Mao picture to stand against fascism.
