For 7th Consecutive Year, Visa Overstays Exceeded Illegal Border Crossings
January 16, 2019
As the Trump administration demands funding for a border wall to stop illegal immigration, a new study finds that for the seventh consecutive year, visa overstays far exceeded unauthorized border crossings.
The report released Wednesday by the Center for Migration Studies of New York finds that from 2016-2017, people who overstayed their visas accounted for 62 percent of the newly undocumented, while 38 percent had crossed a border illegally.
"It is clear from our research that persons who overstay their visas add to the US undocumented population at a higher rate than border crossers. This is not a blip, but a trend which has become the norm," said Donald Kerwin, CMS' executive director, in a statement. "As these numbers indicate, construction of hundreds of more miles of border wall would not address the challenge of irregular migration into our country, far from it."
The study also finds that the undocumented population from Mexico fell by almost 400,000 people in 2017 and that since 2010, the number of undocumented from that country fell by 1.3 million.
"We have made tremendous progress since the year 2000 in reducing undocumented immigration into this country," the study's author, CMS senior fellow Robert Warren, told NPR.More at link. The study also finds that in 2017, for the first time, the unauthorized population from Mexico constituted less than one-half of all the undocumented people in the U.S.
At the same time, Mexico was the leading country for visa overstays in 2016, "about twice the number from India, China and Venezuela," according to the study. The number of undocumented people coming from Venezuela, which is wracked by political and economic turmoil, increased from 60,000 in 2013 to 145,000 in 2017. Virtually all are visa overstays.

I see you are unable to provide any data to disprove mine. Thanks for trying.
But if you don't like NPR, what about the conservative Washington Examiner? (i also included a link earlier to the actual DHS report)

Fox News? (don't have any Russian sources at this time). https://www.foxnews.com/politics/mor...-2017-dhs-saysVisa overstays outpaced illegal border crossings in 2017: DHS
More people overstayed their visas in 2017 than crossed into the United States illegally that year, the Department of Homeland Security said Tuesday.
DHS said almost 702,000 people who entered the U.S. legally last year didn't leave the country in time, and were deemed to be in the U.S. illegally. That's just a bit more than 1 percent of the 52.7 million people who came as students, or for business or personal reasons last year.
That's more than the 361,993 who tried to enter the U.S. illegally last year, most of whom tried to enter at the southwest border.
The nonimmigrant group with the highest overstay rate was student and exchange visa recipients. Four percent of the 1.6 million people who received those visas stayed past the expiration of their visa.
The total overstay number was broken down by Visa Waiver Program nations, which are countries whose citizens can go to the U.S. for up to 90 days without a visa, and non VWP countries.
DHS said that among citizens from the 38 VWP countries who were allowed to come and go without a visa, 0.51 percent — around 110,000 of the 22.5 million — overstayed. The rate of overstay from non-VWP countries was nearly four times higher, 1.91 percent.
About 1 percent of those who entered from Canada legally and were expected to leave last year did not, and the corresponding rate from Mexico was 1.6 percent.
More than 700K foreign nationals overstayed visas in 2017, DHS says

In 2017, 700,000 overstayed their visas. Links provided including DHS and Fox News.
Border apprehensions include asylum seekers who are trying to enter the country legally. Apprehended does not mean they made it into the country illegally. In 2018, that number was 400,000. Also if the same person was caught five times, that counts as five separate apprehensions. Visa overstayers did remain in the country.

I see you are unable to provide alternative figures. Thank you for trying.
The figure for overstays was the total who were supposed to leave during that year- not a total of all those in the country who overstayed a visa at any point in the past. Lengths of visas varies. More info at the DHS report link posted earlier. To save you having to look for it, here it is: https://www.dhs.gov/sites/default/fi...tay_Report.pdf

Top Execs of 180 Companies: Abortion Necessary to Be Successful in Business
Now...these are the same execs that claim that unlimited immigration is the only way their businesses will stay afloat, to keep a fresh supply of cogs for the corporate gears.
So, they fund and support abortion, they fund and support feminism, they fund and support weirdosexualism...and then complain there aren't enough new worker beetles to go around without importing millions of third worlders.
Don't tell me there is no plan there.

If we don't put a stop to these immigrants, they're gonna turn our Great country into some kind of tyrannical socialist hellhole!
We certainly wouldn't want that to happen!!

One worlders? All this time, ever since your Bolshevik immigration stance, you've been telling us that this is why you did a 180. You used to support Ron Paul's immigration position. And then lately you've been telling us that you changed because the numbers of brown people coming here peacefully to work have gotten so high that it's reached the point of being an invasion. You were fine with it back in 2008 and 2012 because it hadn't reached that point yet. Need me to find your quotes?

In order for that to work you have to have a way to identify someone as a person who overstayed a visa. How do you do that without requiring that everyone in the country, including natural-born citizens, be able to provide paperwork showing they're here lawfully.
Two things wrong in your analysis:
A - I still support Ron Paul's position, which is bring the troops home and use them to defend the border. You folks no longer support that, not me.
B - I have changed my tune because it has been made clear by both the colored people you speak of and the people that control them that their goal is NOT to come here peacefully and work, but rather to displace and replace me and my posterity, to shut me and mine out of the nation that we built, and in the worst cases I have seen, just kill us outright, which is usually what happens in these scenarios. THAT is what has changed.

Defending the border from an actual invading military force, as Ron Paul proposed in the quotes you have in mind, is not really what we're debating here. And you know full well that he doesn't support preventing peaceful people coming here to work from doing so, whether by the military shooting them in the face, as you propose, or by any other means either. His policy is to let them come.
I'm not sure where you got the idea that I no longer support defending people and property from actual acts of violence. I have never suggested that. What I don't support is redefining nonviolent acts as violent ones, as an excuse for having the very kind of police state that once upon a time you were famous here for being against.
Oh really? So for those who do come here peacefully to work, you support allowing them to do that?
