Why is Reddit full of Bernie Sanders Supporters?

There are so many Berniebots and many subreddits about Sanders. It's very cult like to me. The same can be said to Trump supporters. We are so screwed! Rand or Ron should jump back to the race to stop Trump and Sanders!

Mostly Millennials and crappy government schools.

socialism has an easy answer for everything and sounds so nice and caring about people and the environment and animals, and on and on.

( Those answers are mathematically challenged when exposed to reality, but that won't phase a socialist. )

It's actually kind of a fun exercise for a libertarian to advocate socialist views and debate a fellow libertarian. Its really easy to throw out platititudes and strawmen about the poor, evil corporations, and on and on.

So yeah, a lot of non skeptical, compassionate people will fall for this stuff when exposed to it.

Oh, I forgot to add, far too many incompetent parents also, who probably had incompetent parents too, all schooled by the government.

Because the typical Redditor is probably about 22-23 year old and has no concept of what socialism really looks like.

And if you try to tell them what socialism really looks like, they just say, tyranny is fine if you just pick the right tyrant!

And then they tell you to vote for someone who is obviously the 'wrong' tyrant.

This is so true and they are so trusting of politicians with their same ideology that if something like universal health care would pass, they would cheer and feel good that it passed, then blindly assume it would be ran how they think their welfare program should be implemented.

One of the biggest problems with a welfare program is there are a million ways to run it and it's very slow to change things if it's not ran well.

    Socialism is very persuasive unfortunately.

Liberals like to virtue signal to hide the fact that they would never lift a finger to help someone, and Reddit is great with that.

Easy answer - Millennials are worse off than their parents. The "great recession" - or as we call it the biggest planned transfer of wealth in the last century - hit them the hardest. Bernie makes sense to them with his 98%er appeal, anti big bank, anti big money, anti military intervention, and having conviction.

On so many issues liberty supporters dislike the same groups as Bernie supporters. Obviously a big difference on how we achieve things and what the actual result would look like, still it's a good starting ground.

Too bad it didn't end up being a Paul (R) vs Sanders (D) matchup. Those debates would have been great. If Hillary gets the spot I wonder if there's any hope for a Sanders and Paul townhall meeting,?

I'd argue the average Ron Paul "Forumer" doesn't know what socialism is either if they think Sanders is an actual socialist and not just a social democrat, so they're not much better.

I'd argue you don't know much about Bernie Sanders if you think he is just a social democrat. He is an admitted socialist. Why would he lie about it?

He can call himself a "democratic socialist," and it's possible he personally identifies that way, but his policy positions are very much in line with what a social democracy would look like. Why do you think he likes to point towards the Nordic model? That's like standard fare social democracy. Socialism is only a dirty word because people around here conflate it with state socialism, not libertarian socialism in the traditional sense as envisioned by early anarchist thinkers. They're quick to champion "true" free market capitalism and decry crony capitalism, but shield their eyes and hiss at the word socialism as if it hadn't been perverted by statists. I mean, I get it, SOCIALISM = EVIL has been thumped into their heads constantly, but on a forum like this, you'd think there'd be a little more critical thinking, surely?

He was a member of the Socialist Party USA. He said being called a communist was one of the nicest things Donald Trump said about him. What exactly do you think socialism is, and why would you be on RON PAUL forums if you think it's a good thing?

I kept hoping that Rand would jump back in.

Reddit is an extension of the DU.

Although when us Ron Paul people were taking over reddit, they sidelined us to our own area.

    Biased pieces of trash.

Yes, there is much critical thinking although not much is required to realize why we dont agree with the State robbing us of our earnings to then redistribute our money as they see fit.

After all, these are the Ron Paul forums.

We believe in freedom and liberty, not coercion and force.
