Homeless Arsonist Burns Down News Corp Christmas Tree

    https://www.crimeonline.com/2021/12/...hristmas-tree/

by KC Wildmoon December 8, 2021

Fox News vows to rebuild after ‘deliberate and brazen act of cowardice’

An emotionally disturbed homeless man was arrested early Wednesday morning for setting fire to the Christmas tree outside Australian media company News Corporation’s Manhattan headquarters.

New York Police said Craig Tamanaha, 49, has been charged with multiple crimes, including arson, reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, and trespassing, WABC reported. His last known address was in Brooklyn, police said, but he is currently homeless.

Investigators say Tamanaha climbed into the 50-foot tree’s “metal superstructure” — it’s an artificial structure shaped like a tree — and set papers he’d brought with him on fire, then climbed down and watched it burn.

Security guards pointed him out to police officers who arrived on the scene.

No injuries were reported, and Police Commissioner Dermot Shea said Tamanaha was someone “who is known to us.” Authorities said the fire caused $500,000 in damage.

Investigators said it didn’t appear that the fire was politically motivated, but FOX News, one of several News Corp companies housed in the building called the blaze a “malicious arson attack” in a company-wide email and vowed to install a new tree “as a message that there can be peace, light and joy even during a dark moment like this,” WNBC reported.

“We will not let this deliberate and brazen act of cowardice deter us,” FOX News Media CEO Suzanne Scott said.

News Corp companies Dow Jones & Company, The Wall Street Journal, Storyful, and the New York Post are also headquartered in the building, as are a handful of unaffiliated companies.

Massive Christmas tree in Oakland’s Jack London Square set ablaze, believed to be arson

The 55-foot Christmas tree in Oakland’s Jack London Square was set on fire mere days before the city’s annual tree lighting.
    ...
Investigators are looking into surveillance footage from around the scene of the fire and are currently investigating it as arson. At least one individual was spotted at the scene around this time, according to preliminary footage.

An aerosol can was found at the scene, which Hunt said was “likely a projectile that was thrown into the tree in hopes of lighting the tree on fire.”

Arsonist Accused of Torching Fox News’ Christmas Tree Released Under Lenient Bail Reforms

    https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2...-bail-reforms/

    SIMON KENT 9 Dec 2021

The homeless man who allegedly set the Fox News Christmas tree alight was freed after his arraignment Wednesday because of lenient new bail reforms introduced under outgoing New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (D).

The speedy return to the streets came just weeks after Craig Tamanaha, 49, allegedly flashed outside Ghislaine Maxwell’s trial court.

The New York Post reports the suspect cried “I didn’t do it!” to reporters attending Manhattan criminal court after being asked about the early morning arson that caused about $500,000 in damage outside the Midtown building home to Fox News, the Wall Street Journal and the New York Post.

Tamanaha, a vagrant with a lengthy rap sheet that includes three prior arrests, one for public intoxication and two for drug possession, also went on an incoherent rant outside the courthouse. He denied the arson and hurled obscenities at reporters before asking them for a cigarette.

“The moms that want to rape their f****g daughters — they set it on fire,” he yelled, according to the Post.

Arson is only considered a felony in New York if the arsonist harms or attempts to harm a person, or carries out the attack as a hate crime.

We all know the race. They got a picture of the culprit who extinguished the ceremonial combustion. It will be prosecuted as a hate crime, once they identify the perp.

They were just defending their territory. The homeless are the only ones allowed to do that.

They burned the tree at RC? That's a first. I lived in the city at its modern worst - so the worst it's been since at least the turn of the twentieth century and perhaps even the nineteenth. It was pretty bad in 1978, but it was a fun place to live in those days, likely in part to being 20 years old, but also due to it being a real place where people were mostly left alone if they comported themselves with even the least decorum.

Joey and I used to hang at Tonio's in Hell's Kitchen - an honest to God mob deli. We'd watch cable, which was a bit deal in those days. The wise guys all knew and liked us. Joey was pure Sicilian, so that was our foot in the door. Used to see the Midtown South cops come in for their cocaine package almost every time we were there, and we spent a good ly amount of time there in those days.

The city was FILTHY... and I mean really $#@!ty almost everywhere you went. It was dangerous, especially to the uninitiated. It was bankrupt, even if they refused to declare it publicly. But you were comparatively free to come and go as you pleased. If you were not raping or murdering or robbing banks, you were pretty well good with the puercos, who had better things to do with their time... like copping their blow at Tonio's.

In those days I'd hang at places like CBGB and watch the audience spit at the bands, and the bands spit back. One night I sat at the foot of the stage and spend about an hour peeking up Debbie Harry's very short skirt. She caught me at it and just smiled at me. ARF ARF ARF...

That's how the city was in those days - Times Square wall to wall porn and other junk shops selling weapons, false driver's licenses and IDs, and so forth. Nobody gave a $#@! and live went on.

Anyhow, in those days even the lowest of the ghetto trash would not have attempted to light the tree ablaze. For one thing, he'd have gotten a good beating, possibly from bystanders, definitely from cops, and then charges and likely a goodly stay on Rikers. That brand of $#@! was not tolerated, and rightly so. That they have devolved to such a low point is sad, if unsurprising.

NYC tears at me because I knew it well as it was, yet now it is like another planet. The whole atmosphere is utterly changed from the Brooklyn environment of WWII era, which despite its problems was something of the very good for the most part, to the ghetto-plague region, replete with woke mobs that really should be shot into extinction.

Seriously, I remember Bushwick where entire blocks were razed with maybe one building remaining, not to mention entire neighborhoods in the Bronx that looked like post-war Dresden - and that is no exaggeration - but the city went on with business. Now those same blocks and neighborhoods are wall-to-wall million-dollar condos (seriously, where the hell did so many people get so much money?), and the city as a whole is a cultural wasteland. I never think about this, save when asked, because having known the good that was, in spite of all the bad, I now see the bad that is, in spite of all the fancy. I call my home town a $#@! hole only because that is what it became, and not because it brings me joy.

    An emotionally disturbed homeless man
And so I ask why is this the manner of description? Do any of those adjectives in any way mitigate the act? No. So why use them? I don't care how disturbed he may have been. I'm PLENTY disturbed about a great many things, but have yet to bring harm to others. And if I were to, prison would be my condign reward. But this $#@! will probably be given the keys to the city and told that it's OK since his mammy failed to potty train him properly.

I'd like to see one of these lefty imbeciles burn CNN/MSNBC headquarters to the ground just to see how they spin it. I can see it now... "Insane Trump supporter torches CNN HQ. Calls for the death penalty are already arising..."
