It would certainly be an illiquid asset- meaning difficult to resell.
Is congnac money? Only if you can go shopping with it and use it to make purchases. Money is our medium of exchange.

Whiskey , corn , furs and buckskins were money in Kentucky in the 1700's and 1800's . Whiskey was more portable corn .
