"My daughter she was seen by Dr. Anne at her newborn visit. She performed a physical and said that everything was normal. At this exam, they are to listen to particular organs, assess for any skin lesions etc. Since birth my daughter's left upper eye lid was drooping and I mentioned it to her and she said it was just a clogged duct and just massage it. I am a family nurse practitioner (valedictorian of my class) and take care of primarily adults but do see healthy children ages 18 months and above which is why I knew about the eye. My husband is a pediatric anesthesiologist that has done his training at CHOP (#1 peds hospital on earth). She also has something called a hemangioma on her lumbar spine which is normal. During this visit, I told her about how my niece passed away in utero at 31 weeks from Tricuspid Atresia vs TOF and Dr. Anne said that those are the same thing (WHICH THEY ARE NOT- we had the cardiologist, my husband and OB explain everything to us). My husband would assist in these surgeries at CHOP. Leslie, the PA at the 2 month visit, said my daughter had thrush (common fungal problem). SHE DID NOT HAVE THRUSH. I told Leslie I know what thrush is and I diagnose this all the time. It was not spread to other portions of her mouth, she did not have any problems eating, I also did not have any symptoms. I told her to order the NYSTATIN that is given for this and if I feel like her milk tongue (which it was) becomes thrush I will give it and not have to bother you. I did the common test to see if it was thrush and it was not, so did 3 other doctor friends of mine and they all AGREED WITH ME that it was not thrush. She ordered the INCORRECT medication. Her milk tongue resolved on its own a few weeks later. Also, I received a bill for a co-pay because Leslie charged that well exam as a sick visit when I never had any concerns at that time. I talked to the office manager and said I will not be paying a co pay for an INCIDENTAL FINDING ON EXAM not a sick visit. Of course she removed the co pay. The drooping of her eye did not get better so my husband and I decided to self-refer ourselves to a peds ophthalmologist who didn't know what was wrong with the eye. He then referred us to Peds Occulo plastics and said she had an internal hemangioma (which could be dangerous since it is close to her brain tissue). I saw Dr. Anne at the 2 month visit and told her we saw a specialist and she was surprised she was wrong that she had a clogged duct. She acted like this was no big deal that she had an internal hemangioma. Then I brought it up to her that she does have a hemangioma on her lumbar but we have been here 3 times so far with our baby and no one has said or documented anything. I asked her if I should be concerned that it is located on her spine. She asked me to bring the baby to her and she says that I need to get an MRI of her spine to make sure she does not have a TETHERED CORD. I said she had no spinal problems like kicking, peeing, pooping, or lack of sensation but she again said that there was a correlation with the tethered cord and hemangioma on spine. AGAIN SHE HAS HAD 3 PHYSICALS WHERE SHE WAS UNDRESSED AND THIS WAS NEVER BROUGHT UP UNTIL I BROUGHT IT UP. We got a second opinion from Dr. Itani who is the chair of occlo plastics at Children's (where my husband works) and he requested an MRI and we saw a neurosurgeon the next day at children's too (luckily my husband has these resources available where we can be seen quickly). My daughter was put under anesthesia and intubated. What a scary site to see as a parent. The MRI confirmed the hemangioma but luckily there was not a tethered cord. My husband and I are in the medical field which is why we have this general knowledge about peds and are on our tippy toes. What if a parent who has no medical knowledge has a child going through something like this or even worse and has Dr. Anne and her staff to deal with. I really wish the best of luck to her patients. Needless to say, we left her practice shortly after."

The case of James Younger, a seven-year-old boy from Texas who was recently the central figure in a custody battle between a father trying to protect his son from an abusive mother, has now taken a much larger spotlight on the national stage.

The case revolves around James’s supposed decision to be a transgender girl. The father, Jeff Younger, maintains that James prefers to be a boy and only seems to act as if he wants to be feminine around his mother, Anne Georgulas, and that these thoughts of transgenderism are a direct result of his mother’s influence.

A video has now come into public light where you can see the father asking James questions about whether or not he’s a girl or a boy. The child answers that he is a girl because his mother told him so.

“You’re a boy, right?” asks Younger.

“No, I’m a girl,” replies James.

“Who told you you’re a girl?” asks Younger.

“Mommy,” said James.

The father continued to ask questions of his young son about his preferences, including how “mommy puts you in a dress and puts nail polish on you?” The son answers in the affirmative, noting that his mother buys him dresses, hairbands, and hairclips, and that he likes nail polish.

“And what does mommy tell you?” asks the father.

“She tells me I’m a girl,” replies James.

“My three-year-old son tells me — he’s at my home — he tells me that he’s a girl. And I had the presence of mind, thank goodness, to pull out my iPhone and videotape me asking him about that. And that was literally the first time that I really understood what was happening to my son,” Younger said on the “The Luke Macias Show” during an interview about the video.

“That was the first time I noticed. He was just past his third birthday,” he added.

Younger believed that his ex-wife, Anne Georgulas, was “only giving [James] love and affection if he acted like a girl,” and “was putting my son into time-outs and she would lock him in his room and say that monsters only eat boys.”

The court, in an 11 of 12 jury decision, has given Georgulas sole managing conservatorship of James and his twin brother Jude, and is now forcing the father to affirm James’s status as a transgendered person. When around James, Younger must refer to him as “Luna” with feminine pronouns.

Though Younger lost the battle to the mother, things are starting to heat up thanks to the nature of the case. The child believes he is transgender due to the mother’s influence, though the father informs the public that when he is out of his mother’s care, James is all boy in both dress and actions.

“James violently refuses to wear girl’s clothes at my home,” said Younger.

Other instances where James has exhibited preferences for being male pop up everywhere from being with friends to testimony from his own transition therapist.

The transition therapist, for instance, observed that James is oddly inconsistent when it comes to wanting to be “Luna.” At one point, James was presented with two pieces of paper, one with the word “James” and one with the word “Luna,” and asked to pick the name he preferred. When in the presence of his mother, he chose “Luna.” When in the presence of his father, he chose “James.”

Others have been eyewitnesses to James’s boyish behavior, including Bill Lovell, the senior pastor of Christ Church Carrollton and a family friend, Ellen Grigsby. The latter of whom said that when she takes care of him away from his parents’ influence, he acts naturally like a boy.

The case has many oddities attached to it. It’s odd enough, in fact, that Texas Governor Greg Abbott has now entered the fray himself and is sending Child Protective Services to investigate the matter further.

Children are easily influenced by others, especially parents. It seems that the child changes based upon which parent is around. “Transitioning” a seven year old is ridiculous, even if that’s what the child truly wants. To do it to a child who apparently is not expressing their own true opinion is malpractice. Children don’t sign contracts, and there a reason for it. They are too young for contracts and too young for a sex change.

Sounds like the mother is probably suffering from Munchausen syndrome by proxy, in addition to other mental disorders.

One thing that bothers me about this case is the 12-11 jury (have you ever heard such a thing?) giving the mother custody. Now Gov. Abott is getting involved with Child protection services so maybe something will be done before this child is irrevocably harmed.

I wouldn't be so quick to judge the jury members; you have no idea what testimony or evidence the judge allowed them to hear, who could testify, etc. The situation they saw (information they had with which to rule) could be completely different than what we have read.

And there were probably additional jury instructions given by the judge, for example the judge might tell them that the transgender issue shall not be used in deciding the custody situation.
