North Carolina Governor Beverly Perdue vetos HB2 Health Care Freedom

She lectures the State and then posts her veto on YouTube.

See our brazen Governor lecturing us on why government knows best. A mandate of wage slavery to Big Corporate HMO is now pursuant to the US Constitution (never actually explaining how) and illegitimately invokes Article 6 to veto the Healthcare Freedom Act. Support HB2 for healthy government!

I will be the first to stand for a veto override. We were sent here to change the role of government in American's lives, and by reforming government create an environment more suitable to job growth. Total fascistic control over the most intimate aspect of our commercial lives: Healthcare, is pouring gasoline upon the bonfire that is consuming America in government control, failed services, and insurmountable debt.

The honorable Governor Mrs Beverly Perdue has picked a fight not with the General Assembly, but with the people of North Carolina. Do not tread upon us madame Governor - we WILL be free!
http://glenbradley.net/share/aleksan...nitsyn_4-t.gif “And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn't love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.” ― Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

Get rid of her, get someone new. People have to rally together to overcome this nonsense. I pray you can get a veto override.

really, we win either way. HCI mandate doesn't even pass the smell test from someone who has never read the Constitution. For those who have it is a glaring neon sign with klaxons. If we pass HB2 then 2012 is a bit less dramatic than 2010. If we don't, then 2012 will be wave 2 of the tsunami, to include the Governor's mansion.

Mind you, I'm afraid of what a Republican-everything might do to our state. I shudder to think. 2012 will be more critical than ever to elect the right Governor who will keep the role of Government to it's properly defined role, and stay out of the areas in which it does not belong.

I know of only one man in NC qualified for that job, Mike Beitler.

Bev Perdue has been on a nonstop mission since day one of her administration to become one of the most corrupt, unresponsive, and tyrannical governors of all the fifty states. And she's succeeding.

Wow check out the set of balls on the Governor. She doesnt care that it's been passed, she clearly has no understanding of the 10th Amendment, and she's obviously in Obama's pocket. I guess she doesn't mind losing the next election!

This also means she will veto your Farmer's Freedom Act even if it passes, Glen. She's obviously kowtowing to the Feds now, not our own state.

Since she veto'ed that bill, how about introducing something new that will instead direct the sheriff's offices of each county to protect the residents of NC from any federal law enforcement action based on the healthcare bill? These sorts of issues you should NOT give up on. Keep introducing bills and making her veto them to prove to everyone who she represents.

I'm thinking I want to establish a structure, the "Reserved Powers Act" and organize all 9th and 10th Amendment legislation under that umbrella. Form a whole new volume of law dealing with what powers the State and the People explicitly retain. Amend to place existing nullification acts under that auspice and reserve room for future expansion.

    Good idea.

Sooner or later this will have to go before the SCROTUS, to find out just where we stand.

This thread is proof that this board needs a barf smiley.
Out of every one hundred men they send us, ten should not even be here. Eighty will do nothing but serve as targets for the enemy. Nine are real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, upon them depends our success in battle. But one, ah the one, he is a real warrior, and he will bring the others back from battle alive.

Well, we had 2 Dems originally voting Aye on HB2, and we need two Dems to override the veto, but they will be under intense pressure to fold. So who knows?

Its funny that she gave 3 reasons for her veto..

Ben Franklin always said 3 half-truths equal a lie, and I have found that to be true.

If she really believed that the bill was unconstitutional that is the only answer she needs to give but because she knows that none of her reasons are strong enough reasons to justify her veto she has to give more weight to her argument by having 3 reasons...

human nature seems to not have changed much since Ben Franklin's day.

AFAICS, the Tenth Amendment is quite clear on where states stand WRT SCOTUS. It is my opinion based on the reading of the Amendment that the SCOTUS really holds no authority in such matters SAVE where there is an explicit violation of an extant Constitutional element. States do NOT, for example, hold the contractual right to deny Second Amendment Rights of the individual. But they do hold the contractual right to tell the federal government to go get bent over issues such as forced universal healthcare.

If and state says "hell no" to Obamacare and the ACOTUS rules against them, I believe the only thing the state needs to do is fly the middle finger at full mast and continues as it pleases.

if modern agriculture continues to follow the path it's on now, it's finished. The food-growing situation may seem to be in good shape today, but that's just an illusion based on the current availability of petroleum fuels. All the wheat, corn, and other crops that are produced on big American farms may be alive and growing, but they're not products of real nature or real agriculture. They're manufactured rather than grown. The earth isn't producing those things.. petroleum is! -Masanobu Fukuoka
