President Trump tells aides to look for big spending cuts in second-term

President Donald Trump has instructed aides to prepare for sweeping budget cuts if he wins a second term in the White House, five people briefed on the discussions said, a move that would dramatically reverse the big-spending approach he adopted during his first 30 months in office.

Trump's advisers say he will be better positioned to crack down on spending and shrink or eliminate certain agencies after next year, particularly if Republicans regain control of the House of Representatives.

I've seen what he has done. I'll give him another 4 years. And I'm not talking government spending. At this point I wouldn't care less if he added another $20 trillion. It truly just doesn't matter. But, if he can add cuts to his bull in a china shop approach to socialism I'm all in.
Is there a Democrat that would do any better? Lol. Would any of them even state that they would cut spending?

How come there have been no spending cuts so far? He said he was going to eliminate the national debt in 8 years.

now weve got big deficits once again.. $1 Trillion plus you know thats not including the raiding of the trust funds so its probably more like $1.6 Trillion.

Some departments are down to skeleton crews. EPA has already been slashed.

    Link

I hope it all goes away over the next 4 years. All the rules didn’t stop lead-laced water in Flint from poisoning kids, from the EPA from releasing toxins into the Animas River, or the 4 million crapgallons dumped into the Puget Sound.

The battle gets fierce. Projection all around, one accusing the other of the tactics they use themselves.
It's all some numbered manipulation mind game, it is, attempts to control under facades of alliance and "just thinking of your best interests".

That said, I highly doubt Trump is going to be making major budget cuts.
Unless he means like Acosta's position just opened, a whole bunch of positions are about to open.

Yeah, drive it up, screw it down, then nail it down and bury in a little mud.
    Wait until the squeals.

That's how you build a wall.

I can only pray judgement day is coming.
I will be sorely disappointed if it does not, I must admit.
    Disappointed, but not entirely surprised.

Always into the future. He will solve healthcare- after the next election. He will reduce spending- after the next election. What did he do when he had control of both houses of Congress? He said he was going to insist on budget cuts in 2018. He was going to cut all cabinet departments by at least five percent (which would have actually only saved $17 billion). But his defense spending proposals were bigger than those proposed cuts ($50 billion) so he did not ask to reduce spending- but spend more in different areas. On the other hand, the President can't cut spending. Congress has that duty. They write the budgets- the President can only offer suggestions.

Federal Employees Hit Highest Number Since Obama Left Office

    June 7, 2019

The number of people employed by the federal government rose from 2,811,000 in April to 2,815,000 in May, an increase of 4,000 that put the number of federal workers at the highest level since President Barack Obama left office, according to data released today by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

In December 2016, the last month before President Donald Trump was inaugurated, the federal government employed 2,817,000, according to BLS. In January 2017, that dropped to 2,810,000.

In the time that President Donald Trump has been in office, federal employment hit a low of 2,792,000 in February and March of 2018, but has since risen by 23,000 to the current 2,815,000.

Federal employment hit an all-time high of 3,435,000 in May 1990, when George H.W. Bush was president.

Very bold move if confirmed as non-fakenews, debt/deficit spending has been out of control during 1st term.

The new budget plan looks more like a ballooning deficit, that will likely swell debts and deficits.
According to Goldman Sachs, the budget bill will increase the US deficit by $1.1 trillion next year.
At more than $20 trillion, greater than the annual GDP, the United States' debt is already at its highest level since World War II.

Because of the December tax cuts, of which the wealthy profit most, the federal revenues are cut by $1.5 trillion over 10 years.

There is a $1.5 trillion plan to upgrade the nation’s infrastructure.

The budget deal calls for an additional $300 billion in defence spending over 2 years.
    ....

Granted big gummit spending and record deficit/debt spending has been out of control during MAGA's 1st term, there are rumors that during second term MAGa will reverse course and become a small gummit Prez.

Another $25 B spending saving has already taken place during 1st term for which MAGA is not being given credit in falenews media:

Trump has not built a single mile of new border fence after 30 months in office

Media can't have it both ways, first called MAGA's promised Wall too expensive but later did not give him credit for cutting that expense.
