American Airlines Turns Plane Around, Kicks Two-Year-Old Off Flight For Not Wearing Mask During Asthma Attack

American Airlines turned around a flight and kicked off a two-year-old asthmatic boy and his mother and grandmother, because the child could not wear a face mask properly when he had an asthma attack.

Amanda Pendarvis, her two-year-old son Waylon, and her mother, were allegedly kicked off AA Flight 1284 on Monday, because Waylon, who has asthma, was having an attack and could not maintain the mask on his face properly as a result. Pendarvis described it on Instagram as the “most humiliating/traumatizing experience,” because of the actions of the flight attendant, who she named as Carl and described as “truly evil [and] power tripping.”

In upsetting footage posted to Instagram by Pendarvis, her son can be seen crying and not wanting to wear the mask due to his inability to breathe. Despite allegedly showing the American Airlines attendant his negative COVID test, and informing him that he has asthma, the flight attendant “did not care” that Waylon was “literally hyperventilating.” As a result, the plane was turned around and the family were escorted off by police officers. “I was not refusing a mask, nor did I even say I wouldn’t try to keep a mask on my son,” Pendarvis confirmed.

Petty? What's petty about strangling a 2 year old child? These are full on, demonic tyrants. There's nothing $#@!ing petty about this.

Come to think of it, and on a completely related note, I've been looking into learning to sail & potentially getting a cruiser. I'd love to see if you have opinions on how to learn & what to start with. And otherwise what sort of solution to this problem it would promise to be.

The two best days of your life: 1. buying a boat. 2. Getting rid of it.

Depending on how often you'll use it, renting is a great option. You don't have to pay to clean it, store it, service it, slip it.

If you're planning on using it very often, buying one may be a better option. Don't get something so old that repair/restore cost will be more than its worth, but don't buy something brand new/full retail either.

If I was on that exact flight, and I would have seen the incident itself, I would inform the 'flight attendant' that I would happily join those escorted off in order to not fly with their $#@! airlines again. Thank you very much.

I used to fly a lot before the Mexican beer virus, and I have not seen many incidents, because generally staff seem to be very good at their job. Maybe it's the airlines I fly ? I don't know, the only real bad experience I had was with an Indian airline that is now bankrupt. Thank God. Got me stranded with no backup at all, in the wrong place... I do know that the captain of a plane has authority, real authority, so yes you can have some sort of an argument but since it's a small aluminum tube, safety is taken serious and action is taken much sooner than other places.

This however just makes me want to cry. WTF WHY ? IMHO this is a fireable event for the flight attendant. It's a child, out of all people, you definitely cannot fault him for this kind of response. #byebye

Better to know someone that owns a boat than to own a boat.

I hear you loud and clear and agree:

But I thought the standard reasoning was, that's United Planes, it's there property, you must comply with whatever they demand, or feel free to go fly elsewhere or not at all.

How is this any different than an employer mandated jab or a landlord demanding you comply with x y or z?

It's not different, and I wouldn't agrue that it is. If you want to demand from me that I give you a sample of my DNA, or whatever other intrusive demands you [they] may make, I will not patronize your business. But I 100% will scream from the highest mountaintops that you [they] are the worst kind of tyrant, and that anyone who abides this viciousness is himself a brutal, demonic tyrant.

To strangle a toddler, even one that is crying on a flight (I kid), because of a quote-unquote virus that kills just slightly more people than the flu, is a travesty. And anyone who hitherto has advocated as much ought to be ashamed.

There is no freedom aboard any 'murikan carrier.

The mindset has totally changed in the country, through conditioning and fear-driven popular demand.

I was out of work because of 9/11. When I returned to work, I had to travel weekly to my new flying job as a full-fare passenger.

It was like the world had changed and I had been transformed from a trusted crew member to a special security risk because I was a pilot traveling on a one-way fare. Pure misery.

If one wants a little bit of dignity, most foreign airlines still a bit of human decency.

I've posted it before, but the official Aeroflot safety video shows that a sexy confident smile can gain more compliance than a man-hating shrew or fa6 shrieking orders and threats.

It really is just petty tyranny

I don't ever wear a mask on American except for take-off and landing.

The only difference between me and that baby is I have a vodka-soda in my hand

It's Federal Law at this point, have to wear mask on planes (via EO, both Trump and Biden)
