    ACLU Flips on COVID Mandate

The ACLU, Prior to COVID, Denounced Mandates and Coercive Measures to Fight Pandemics

In a New York Times op-ed this week, the group completely reversed its views, arguing vaccine mandates help civil liberties and bodily autonomy "is not absolute."

The op-ed sounds like it was written by an NSA official justifying the need for mass surveillance (yes, fine, your privacy is important but it is not absolute; your privacy rights are outweighed by public safety; we are spying on you for your own good). And the op-ed appropriately ends with this perfect Orwellian flourish: “We care deeply about civil liberties and civil rights for all — which is precisely why we support vaccine mandates.”

What makes the ACLU's position so remarkable — besides the inherent shock of a civil liberties organization championing state mandates overriding individual choice — is that, very recently, the same group warned of the grave dangers of the very mindset it is now pushing. In 2008, the ACLU published a comprehensive report on pandemics which had one primary purpose: to denounce as dangerous and unnecessary attempts by the state to mandate, coerce, and control in the name of protecting the public from pandemics.

Pathetic. Of course, in the alternate universe where Trump stayed in office and mandated vaccinations, the ACLU would be totally against them.

Whereas the NRA started with good intentions and morphed into an arm of the RNC, the ACLU is just an arm of the DNC.

The ACLU neither fears nor respects the People.

It is appallingly obvious the ACLU does not want to be shut down by the current Regime. Their behavior is a reflexive response to offer their obedience.

THE ACLU CAN NO LONGER BE TRUSTED.

No longer? The ACLU was formed by Trostkyites and American communists.

The crony kleptocracy is huge, and the ACLU is just a very small piece of it. But they know where their bread is buttered.

There is only one correct way: freedom. All other solutions are non-solutions.

The ACLU has done some good things. But that is twentieth century history. Three or four decades later, there's no reason to believe anyone who was involved in any of them is still with the organization.

Here is the former Executive Director of the ACLU from 1978 to 2001.

No matter how you look at it, the ACLU has changed.

    <sigh>

Maher tries not to be an $#@!, but that quality is so deeply woven into the fabric of his existence, he just cannot quite escape it.

I would note that the ACLU has been on this idiotic trajectory for twenty years. It is about that long ago they stopped being in any way cool or relevant, if ever they really were. Glasser can talk his 1A crap until he goes to Jewish hell, but did he ever defend the 2A? Nope.

Don't ever forget the history here - it's not that long ago - and never trust those stooges to tell you water is wet. It tells me nothing to hear you yap on interminably about free speech, all the while ignoring those parts of the BoR with which you disagree, save that you are a corrupt, steaming pile of human waste product. If you're that ignorant, you're nobody to whom anyone should pay the least heed. If you're that corrupt, then trebly so. if you are both, then treble it yet again.

We are in the hands of devils whose ostensible good intentions count for less than nothing because they destroy everything they touch.

I will add that while I may hold the right to yank my tiny little winkie in the town square in front of your kids, it does not follow that I ought to. The applicable notions of rights in such matters have been loused up tremendously such that we now think in ways we are all better served in not thinking. The left has done a fantastic job of wrecking everything good between people and we have done a lousy job of defending.
