Texas: Republican lawmaker introduces bill to allow death penalty for women who have abortions

    https://thehill.com/homenews/state-w...-for-women-who

A Texas lawmaker has filed a bill that would abolish and criminalize abortions, leaving women and physicians who perform the procedure to face criminal charges that could carry the death penalty.

The legislation, filed Tuesday by state Rep. Bryan Slaton, does not include exceptions for rape or incest. It does exempt ectopic pregnancies that seriously threaten the life of the woman 'when a reasonable alternative to save the lives of both the mother and the unborn child is unavailable.'

'It is time for Texas to protect the natural right to life for the tiniest and most innocent Texans, and this bill does just that,' Slaton said. 'It's time Republicans make it clear that we actually think abortion is murder.' Unborn children are dying at a faster rate in Texas than COVID patients, but Texas isn't taking the abortion crisis seriously.'
Mixed feelings.....the death penalty is obviously a tad bit too far.

I'm against abortion except in the extreme cases of rape and incest or if it endangers the mother's life but these are rare. Making it a crime like this however is just going to clog up the courts and prisons because we have a population of sexually promiscuous women and I doubt it will prevent dangerous ones done illegitimately.

We need to teach young people to be responsible for their actions and for the life that they create and to have more respect for their own bodies instead of teaching them about Cardi B, butt sex and being a tranny. Perhaps keeping it legal but having each abortion case go before a judge before would be a better alternative. If a conservative judge ruled against the abortion he could set the pregnant woman up with state resources for adoption solutions, that way they would be encouraged to seek counsel instead of acting out of fear of being criminalized and getting a possible botched abortion. If it must happen a proper judge could also make sure no one can profit from it too which is where the main evil of the industry comes from.

If it were left up to judges then the outcome would very depending on whether the judge is liberal or conservative. If you want abortions you would live in a district that has liberal judges and they would freely grant abortions. If you want no abortions you live in a district with conservative judges.

Again, considering that it would allow the death penalty for women who get abortions, I'm fairly certain that it won't get passed.

Until SCOTUS or a constitutional amendment overturns Roe v. Wade, bills like this will never become law.
We have long had death and taxes as the two standards of inevitability. But there are those who believe that death is the preferable of the two. "At least," as one man said, "there's one advantage about death; it doesn't get worse every time Congress meets."

It's all about taking action and not being lazy. So you do the work, whether it's fitness or whatever. It's about getting up, motivating yourself and just doing it.

I don't think any state currently has the balls to do that.

Not at all. Just pointing out how futile political posturing can be (although Arkansas' law may end up being a test case to reverse Roe). If you want a non-racial example, look at Roy Moore. His asinine behavior over the Ten Commandments monument and SCOTUS's same-sex marriage decision got him twice-removed as Alabama's Chief Justice. Even the local judicial authorities couldn't stomach his violating clearly-established law and court orders.

Saying this bill is only about abortion is actually ridiculous.
