Thread: George H.W. Bush has died

Also of note: The President and former presidents are sitting on the front row across from the family. The Vice Presidents are on the next row. Of all those people, the Trumps are not really participating in the service. They have sung none of the hymns or liturgy. It’s an Episcopal service, so pretty familiar. I know the First Lady is Catholic, but there is nothing in the service that should not allow participation by a Catholic. The Obamas, Clintons, and Carters, the Bidens, Quayles , Cheneys, and Walter Mondale are all participating.

    It just seems strange.

It's more polite than spitting on the casket.

    I'd spit on the casket.

Meh, we were alive, it's easier to remember $#@! like that if you lived through it.

I don't remember for certain how many terms Ford or Carter served.

I was alive, I just posted in a hurry without thinking. (something I usually don't do but Shrub doesn't deserve much of my mental bandwidth)

I read HW is taking a train ride to his final resting spot. This is one crazy ass funeral procession - planes, trains, and automobiles.

HW's death could cost taxpayers 1/2 a Billion.

As with most people, we rarely know the whole story.

Obama and Clinton are pass-the-buck kind of people. I don’t think Bush 41 was. Trump doesn’t seem to be either. A lot of people talk about the mess Trump inherited. He doesn’t mention it so much.

Obama not so much with the friends, either. He kind of threw them under the bus. Can you imagine what kind of funeral Jeremiah Wright would preach?

It seems like George and Barbara practically adopted Bill Clinton at some point. Not Hillary. I don’t think she has a lot of friends—just Loyal people who draw a salary and do her dirty work.

All the rancor in the room was not all on the Trumps, either. Alan Simpson was on Clinton’s impeachment committee. Bush 43 defeated Al Gore, who was there. A lot more people were laying aside differences than just the Trumps.

And for the record, we did not support either Bush in the primaries.

Nothing next to what his life cost.
Liberty is lost through complacency and a subservient mindset. When we accept or even welcome automobile checkpoints, random searches, mandatory identification cards, and paramilitary police in our streets, we have lost a vital part of our American heritage. America was born of protest, revolution, and mistrust of government. Subservient societies neither maintain nor deserve freedom for long.
