With the supreme court deciding not to hear qualified immunity it appears rights can be trampled with no recourse allowed to citizens. How many times have we seen qualified immunity horror stories appear on these forums? Old police or new it might not matter much.
I have heard of some, although failed, legislation that would treat SWAT like a national guard and require a governor to order them used. Seems like that would help with demilitarizing police although I have not heard of anything like this brought up during these latest protests.
