Over 90 already by noon and humid. This morning I stacked some Locust , Ash and Hickory logs . Enjoying the heat and humidity . This is the Hoosier version of a Spa. Sauna without membership fees . Good training for future incursions into enemy territory for punitive and preemptive strikes .

The sky opened up and it started pouring down rain. My kids were in the pool and started screaming like little girls. It's not thundering or lightening, I guess they were afraid they'd get wetter.

So, are we back to Global Warming or are we still on Climate Change?

Melting Roofs, Buckling Roads, and Deaths in Global Heat Wave

(NEWSER) – A city in Oman set a heat record last week, but it's not the only place registering record-setting mercury. The Washington Post lists the places worldwide that have been experiencing never-before-recorded heat over the past week, caused by heat pressure or heat domes across the Northern Hemisphere. In North America, record temps have been notched in Denver (it tied its all-time high of 105 degrees), Burlington, Vt. (marking its highest "low" temperature of 80 degrees), and Montreal, which saw its highest temperature ever with a 97.9-degree reading. Eurasia and Europe also haven't been able to escape the sweltering; in the UK and Ireland, it's been so hot that roads and roofs are melting, per the Weather Channel.

While it's not surprising that July will smash some weather records, so many places experiencing them at once suggests something bigger. "So many rare milestones being set or tied worldwide does point to the influence of a warming world, given that the link between heat waves and climate change is robust," says Andrew Freedman, science editor for Axios. AccuWeather notes the tragic consequences of this weather pattern, reporting that at least 17 people have died in Montreal over the past week due to the heat, while in the US there have been at least three reported deaths. "My thoughts are with the loved ones of those who have died in Quebec during this heat wave," Canadian PM Justin Trudeau tweeted on Wednesday. A blast of cooler air out of Canada is expected to bring some relief to the Northeast and mid-Atlantic states by Friday and Saturday.

Started to warm up again this afternoon after a couple of nicer days . Rain in the forecast . I drug some more ash logs out of the woods behind the cottage today since everything was finally dried up enough to take the tractor up that hill . I exterminated a raccoon at the hen house this morning . If Danke was here I would tan that hide and make a little hat for him .

I should probably mow the ditches on the tank trap today . I like to keep a baseball field like lawn on my field of fire for the only likely invasion point on my lands . It is easier to keep an accurate body count from a safe distance on a nice lawn .

    Slows wildfires, too.

We're having a week below 90. I don't know what we did to deserve it.

HOT! I ran errands and came home and jumped in the pool to cool down. It looks like we're going to get some rain and cooler weather next week.

NC. My giant willow oak is dropping leaves like it's October and various other trees (mostly other oak varieties) around the area are shedding leaves early, also. I saw a quick headline on yahoo front page saying that season changes are being caused, of course, by humans. I should have read the article but didn't. It's almost August, usually by far the hottest part of the year in the SE but the July/August temps were in June/July and now temps are forecast to not break high 80's for the forecastable future. It's like the seasons have shifted forward 1-2 months.

Now that you mention it, the nights and early mornings have been cooler than usual this time of year. Daytime weather is typical, though. *sunny and hot*

Solar minima are not generally correlated with changes in climate but recent studies have shown a correlation with regional weather patterns.
Solar minimum is contrasted with the solar maximum, where there may be hundreds of sunspots. (Wikipedia)

My overall take is that cloud formations have been "intense" and impressive this summer.

I don't put any stock into what Wiki says. What a Grand Solar Minimum does is weakens the magnetic field of the planet, which usually blocks/deflects UV, and particularly UV-C (the really, really bad one). UV readings are up, and sometimes WAY up, in the northern and southern parts of the planet where the magnetic field is traditionally the weakest. This is the feeling that you're being cooked in the sun while it's not very hot. Also why SPF is rising. I saw an ad for 100 SPF the other day. Dunno about you but growing up all that was needed was 25 to avoid burn. Now it's 50 at the minimum.

    Reminds me of this:

A bit of a heads-up from tinseltown perhaps?
