I'm merely trying to maintain consistency. I'm sure that Peter Schiff doesn't want to run a campaign that uses the dollar symbol to portray dishonesty and corruption. The grassroots should work with as much transparency as possible. If the campaign wouldn't approve of it, surely it doesn't belong at the grassroots level either?

Also, we probably don't want to deface a politician's image in a fund-raiser advertisement. Sure, we can use his image, but let's not synthesize a menacing look. (He's scary enough as it is, anyway). I have no problem with criticizing or attacking a politician, as long as it is justified. We shouldn't be representing Peter Schiff as a man who likes to deface a political opponent without direct causation. Let's save the attacks for the debates and interviews, where the attacks can be argued and defended by Peter himself. The grassroots will play a large role in Peter's campaign, and much of his campaign visibility will be due to the volunteers at the grassroots level. We shouldn't be taking any chances with how we present ourselves this time around. We don't want to end up like Ron Paul, where so much of his portrayal in the media was focused on his outlandish supporters and a negligible amount of unprofessional grassroots work associated with his candidacy.

It's not that it's evil to have dollars. I think dollar-sign-eyes represent greed.

Even so, do you believe it is a reasonable idea to deface an incumbent (and well-known) politician's headshot? The official campaign would never do that, and I would be especially careful because a large amount of Peter's exposure to CT voters will be through volunteers and the grassroots. We need to represent Peter as faithfully and delicately as possible, in my view.
