Yes, so then he'll be a balding guy with smelly, greasy hair... I am fairly sure those relatives that DIDN'T lose their hair used shampoo as well?

OP: Take a look at pictures of your mom's dad. If my hazy recollection of classes I took over a decade ago is correct, that's where your potential "male pattern baldness" would come from. You can take medication to "fix" the hair issue, but I wouldn't recommend that at your age. Read the list of potential side effects to learn why. It's also damned expensive.

The other advice given on here is spot on. I'd just think twice before quitting a hygeine step

The current thought is that it comes equally from both parents... which makes sense because in our family photos even going down the line of men there is a consistent head baldness pattern.

I'm now 36, and started balding when I was probably about 18. About ten years ago, I decided to quit postponing the inevitable, and now I just shave my head every month or so. I love not having hair. It's very liberating.

On a side note, I started taking vitamin E recently. I hope it doesn't make my hair grow faster - what's left of it, anyhow.

I'm not sure what the total effects of Tree Tree Oil Shampoo & Conditioner are, but it stopped my scalp from itching all the time and it makes my hair look fuller.

What do you recommend that I do? Thanks.
Don't even worry about. Anybody who thinks balding looks bad is an idiot anyway and not worth your time. Another thing you have going for you is that short hair is the preferred fashion now anyway. Or shaved. Hell, just get an electric clipper and put on the number #1 or #2 attachment and you're good to go! Balding just means you have more testosterone.

My only advice is to avoid comb overs. Will make you look self conscious and there's no reason to be.

I don't hate balding, but I hate the skinhead look. I am glad I got old when guys tried to keep their hair. Monoxadil and transplants for the win.

LOL @ skinhead look - my wife hates that, too! I shave my own head, and she always forbids me to "bic it". However, when I did it last week she wasn't home, so I accidentally slobbered my head in her shaving cream and voila! No hair!

Is this a really bad thread to post that I still find guys with long hair hot (so long as they have the right features for it)?

I have heard that before as well. Does anyone know if this is a sure fire sign?

I ask because my mom's dad is in his eighties and still has a head of hair, a thin one obviously due to his age but I mean he hasn't suffered baldness like most men do.

So if this plus taking vitamin e pretty much guarantees I won't go bald, than that is fucking great.
