Thread: airdrop leaflets?

    airdrop leaflets?

Do you remember before the Iraq war how the military would airdrop information leaflets to the Iraqis to give them information about the mission?

I wonder if there would be any laws against air dropping Ron Paul brochures over events where there are crowds gathering?

You are referring to psychological operations - leaflet bombing. This is interesting.
Maxed out to ALL of Ron Paul's campaigns.

    Yes exactly.

It was a way for them to reach a large number of people quickly.

Couldn't we do something like that? There are already airplanes flying overhead with banners...we could drop slim jims out too!

This is actually illegal in most jurisdictions; you can be charged for the cleanup fees, plus damages.

maybe some kinda special permit available for this?

I imagine there would be a lot of litter around that wouldn't all get cleaned up and some people would get pissed.

But what the hell, we drop them in Iraq, right?

You could probably get a waiver from a city council, but you'd have to clean up afterwards.

Yeah, but you'd don't have to make nice with the locals afterwards.

FAA regulations allow you to drop objects from airplanes as long as you can guarantee they do not hit anyone...don't think it will fly..no pun intended.

    Some paper is biodegradable.

You would want a very light weight paper so it would float, spread and not hit anyone as a concentrated mass.

It's generally going to be inefficient, wasting many leaflets per one that gets through. Probably a lot more waste than windshields or handing out fliers.

When was the last time you picked something up off the ground? Conditions are a lot different over there, and the only ones here that would probably pick them us is people that saw them drop and rain down on them.

Plusses and minuses - in general, I'm thinking not cost effective.
