We need to SHOW the American people that Empire abroad and Republican Socialism at home are destroying the value of the Dollar--and pushing us ever closer to the "tipping point" at which the dollar could lose its current status as the world's favored reserve currency.

Dr. Paul mentioned at the ABC NH debate that, while oil prices have skyrocketed in recent years in dollar terms, they have remained relatively constant in gold terms. This Wall Street Journal article is dead-on:

Since 2001 the dollar price of oil and gold have run in almost perfect tandem (see nearby chart). The gold price has risen 239% since 2001, while the oil price has risen 267%. This means that if the dollar had remained "as good as gold" since 2001, oil today would be selling at about $30 a barrel, not $99.

I've just bought PricesInGold.org and .net. I want to set up a simple site--think RonPaulGraphs--that shows Americans how much better off they would be earning gold rather than scraps of paper.

I envision a constantly-updated graphic like that above for oil, wheat and other major commodities tracking relative prices in Dollars, Euros and Gold.

Who will help me? We need help:

• Hosting the site
• Designing the basic graphics
• Setting up the charts
• Figuring out how to keep the price data for gold & our chosen commodities updated--daily, if possible. Are there data feeds out there?

This could be a POWERFUL demonstration of the durable power of gold. I cannot think of a more compelling way to make our case for sound money. We could add links to the most compelling articles about gold underneath our graphics.

This may be the best argument we can make for Dr. Paul over the coming days, weeks and months. Poll numbers show that the economy has displaced the war as Americans' top concern. So let's speak to that!

Great idea!
I'll try to find some information for you.
On another note, it might be a good idea to draw the focus away from the whole gold instead of paper money concept, as that seems to be something that the average voter just doesn't seem to grasp.
Maybe instead use it as an argument about just how much the war (which RP will end ASAP) has hurt our economy. If we could find some commodities that especially hit the average voter (like oil) and show how their prices have stayed the same (based on something stable like gold) that would really wake people up to the state of their "almighty dollar"

Every time I talk to people about this issue they think they will have to lug big coins around in their pockets.
So keep it to gold backed currency, like the old silver certs "payable to the bearer on demand" in gold or whatever.
Gold backed credit cards? People love those cards.
