Thread: Focus on the anti-war message

    Focus on the anti-war message

McCain has swept the anti-war vote in New Hampshire. The uninformed (let's face it, they are a majority of voters) think he is the Republican who will bring the troops home. How is this possible?!

Well, what do you expect when our campaign's ads are all over the place? The fliers I've seen are about the length of the Declaration of Independence, in small print, and mentioning Iraq somewhere in the middle. The TV and radio ads talk about immigration, abortion and student visas.

But that's not what attracted me or you to Ron Paul in the first place. I bet 90% of us first gave him a hearing because of the war. Only after that you come to appreciate the fine points.

The polls show that fully 1/3 of Republicans nationwide are against the war, and even more among the independents. A consistent 33+%, in state after state, is enough to win in such a divided field. We can win by focusing exclusively on this issue, and we can't win otherwise.

So put immigration, abortion and monetary policy on the back burner. Just issue out thousands and thousands of ads hammering through this simple message, and making sure it reaches every uninformed person in the country: RON PAUL IS THE ONLY CONSERVATIVE AGAINST THE WAR. Romney will double Guantanamo. Huckabee thinks it's too nice there. McCain will keep us in Iraq for 100 years. So vote Ron Paul!

This message would have won NH today. But it's still not too late for the rest of the country.

I disagree. "Anti-war" sounds very peacenik and can actually work against us.

It is better to contrast what Ron Paul is saying with what the other candidates are saying.

Monetary policy is a very powerful issue once you can get people to look at it. We just need to improve our presentation format.

Here is an idea I had....

    YOU ARE BEING LIED TO!

No presidential candidate save Ron Paul is seriously addressing the following facts.

    • Fact The Constitution of the the United States of America is the Supreme Law of the Land. If the Constitution is only paid lip service and is violated as a matter of routine then the U.S.A. is in actual fact no longer a Constitutional Republic but is instead a nation governed by bureaucratic whim.(1)
    • Fact Perceived occupation is a major recruiting tool for foreign terrorists. (1)
    • Fact The ever increasing spending of the United States government on both foreign and domestic programs which is funded by ever increasing borrowing is leading the United States into an economic catastrophe. (2)
    • Fact Inflation is caused by the expansion of the money supply. The United States dollar will continue to decline at an exponential rate unless the constant expansion of the money supply by the Federal Reserve is addressed.
    • Fact The vast majority of American's care more about making money and entertainment than they do about the future of their nation. Most Americans are stupidly allowing the media to dictate to them what issues are important and which solutions they ought to pay attention to.

The 2008 Presidential Election is not a horse race where you try and pick a winner based on popular opinion. The 2008 Presidential Election is not some popularity contest where you make your choice based on rhetoric alone. Stop being stupid America and start to think for yourselves and pick a candidate based on their principles, their record, and what is best for the United States of America.

    Your children depend on you!

That's all very nice. But if you think the average voter will ever read through all that, you're deluding yourself. If you want to get to the average voter, you need a clean, clear, short message.

The election will not be won with 50% of the votes in the primary, it will be won with a plurality. Look at Huckabee, who is appealing to the Evangelical minority in very clear terms. We need to express ourselves in very clear terms as well, and monopolize the anti-war minority. It's inexcusable to let one like McCain win most of the anti-war vote in a state like NH.
