This evening at the bookstore I found a great book that I think many of us will find useful. It's called The Non-Designer's Design & Type Books by Robin Williams. The book covers the principles of digital typography and graphic design for those of us who haven't had formal instruction. It's incredibly easy to read, and there are great visual instructions and comparisons on every page. Presentation is just as important as our message! I'm only a few pages in, but I've already found things I could fix in my projects for Dr. Paul's campaign.
