I don't know that I fully believe that for several reasons...

1- who knows if the Russians have updated their targeting?

2- those are not the only military targets with value. There are a ton more places

3- there are a lot of civilian targets too that aren't included

I was looking at that very map a couple of days ago. There is a second map that looks far more ominous. I thought I bookmarked it, but cant find it now.

    Anybody remember the show Jericho?

    Man, they were way off.
There is nothing to fear from globalism, free trade and a single worldwide currency, but a globalism where free trade is competitively subsidized by each nation, a continuous trade war is dictated by the WTO, and the single currency is pure fiat, fear is justified. That type of globalism is destined to collapse into economic despair, inflationism and protectionism and managed by resurgent militant nationalism.

Yes I love that show! It could have been better, and it ended too soon, but an excellent storyline for sure!

Fallout is the result of Ground burst nuclear detonations. Most Ground busts are military targets, while air burst are primarily population targets.
Here is a list of targets by State, base on a medium sized attack of 1100 warheads.

Here is a link to the article.

You guys need to understand the change wrought by Russia's new "Oreshnik" missile system. With it, nukes are not needed to take out missile silos. These things are incredibly fast and will penetrate very deep into the ground. They are fast enough that if fired from off the US West Coast can eliminate all US missile silos before the missiles within them could get off the ground.

This weaponry upgrade is on the order of the difference between ordinary conventional munitions and nuclear weapons. It's a whole new ball game now! The only radiation we will need to worry about is from any nukes the US might manage to use upon other continents.

Yes but this assumes their targeting is precise. I think this remains to be seen?

One reason the Soviets created such big nukes during the Cold War was because they really couldn't pinpoint them that well. They compensated accuracy for size.

But hey, nukes are nasty, and if we are moving away from them globally, that's a great thing. Just the radiation damage alone makes them untenable. Neutron bombs would even be better.

    These maps are overly optimistic.

These target list doesn't even come close to accounting for very many of the estimated 1800 nukes that the Russians have.

I was listening to an arms expert who worked in the field of nuclear targeting and he made mention of not wanting to live in a city over 50,000 that had a bridge over the Mississippi River.

They will be going after real infrastructure that isn't necessarily near military outposts or population centers. Major bridges, power stations, hydro plants will be hit because they have plenty of warheads.

If you really want to get your fear/doom porn going, watch the movie Threads on the yootoob. It was the less optimistic version of The Day After from the early '80's.

Where is Nina with her luft balloons or the Safety Dance guys when we need them to protest nuclear proliferation?

Nevermind, they only protested nukes to soften up Europe for commie takeover.

Flip the script, they voted in communism in Europe and now they are going after Russia who voted out communism.

The figure you claim as an estimate may have been accurate in the late 1990s to early 2000s, but now, the Russians have over 5,500 strategic nuclear weapons, and who knows how many thousands of tactical nuclear weapons.
