I thought the whole point was that they all knew it wasn't gonna pass and they're just gonna remove whatever sections inevitably that are blocking it and then pass it

The uniparty plan was to have it pass the House on party lines. The Republicans could claim that they voted to secure the elections, the Democrats could claim they voted to support universal suffrage, even for illegal immigrants (essentially, for foreigners).

Then Schumer would strip the SAVE Act in the Senate, pass the CR in the Senate, and then Schumer and Johnson would reconcile (compromise) by leaving the SAVE Act out.

It's theater. That's what Massie opposed. And he just threw a monkey wrench in the works. It's so blatantly obvious that it was just cover, especially now that Republican useful idiots are screaming that Massie and his GOP cohorts are the bad guys because they didn't support election reform.

So if I'm understanding you right, the final bill will end up being the same, the main difference being that the 14 Republicans who "threw a wrench" are gonna be primaried cus they didnt vote for SAVE Act

No. Uniparty plan A has been thwarted in the House. Johnson will no doubt try to bring some Democrats on board to pass it. How will he do that? If he drops the SAVE Act, then he looks like the bad guy, which he is. And so do the establishment Republicans that go along with Johnson and the Democrats.

A highly unlikely long shot would be for Johnson to bring the Massie gang back on board by cutting spending, then send it to the Senate. Then it would be Schumer shutting down government by not passing reduced spending. Of course Johnson is Schumer's lap dog, so highly unlikely is an understatement.
