Do Americans qualify, or do you need to be freshly imported?

Harris is handed a script, she reads it, and the Washington Post -- Katherine Graham's Post -- calls her an idiot for it.

They're not even trying to make her popular. You can do that to GOP candidates and Republicans consider it an endorsement. But Harris isn't a GOP candidate. They're trying to make sure nobody buys the steal this time.

Depends upon your social credit score, comrade. The freshly imported are clean slates, and thus can receive full benefits. Many existing Americans have ungood scores, and thus do not qualify.

The rich and middle class have to pay their fair share - the poor have to receive their fair share

Obviously I don't agree with this. But I also find it ironic that it shows how out of touch she or her campaign is. The average price of a new home is over 400k. 25k isn't going to get poor people into a house. It's not even 10% down and even if they can pull together the remaining downpayment, they still can't afford the mortgage and insurance. It's even worse in her home state of California where the average home price is 900k. Show a mortgage lender your 25k and they will laugh at you.

Government subsidies are always the right answer.

Need to prop up home prices, wouldn't want the banks to lose any money.

Out of touch? Or just having fun making promises they don't need to keep because the giveaway wouldn't do anyone any good anyway?

They did something like this for first time buyers in NJ about 25 years ago. I don’t remember the amount they promised but the catch was - once you've already been shopping around - the realtor tells you that in order to qualify, the home had to cost under $100,000. By that time, there was no such thing as a NJ home with a price tag under $100,000, unless you wanted to buy a condo or half a duplex. The cost of a real house with a small yard in NJ was already at least 20 or 30 thousand above that for an old, rather dumpy place. - A nice, but not luxurious house (old but well maintained) with small yard was probably well over $200,000.

I think this is a case of making promises you know you won't have to keep. You can say anything! You make the gullible hopeful, and by the time they realize it's bull$#@!, your campaign is over and it doesn't matter.

They are hoping to buy votes with this way.

Harris and Walz have no real policy or agenda to lower the prices..

This would only further push the US debt into a Gazillion instated of trillions debt deficit.

    You dont get the idea.

Fools who are foolish enough to buy into this Harris/Walz plan do not realize how little this $5,000 really is..

They wont give out 25,000 it would likely be even less the 25k

wtf is this line about "first-generation" home buyers?

it says their parents can't own a home in order to qualify for this.

Probably a repeat of 2008. The banks got a lot of down payments and did a lot of repos back then. Worked for them.

This is just going to make housing more expensive which is exactly what they want.

No need to campaign for votes when you can buy them with their own money.

We're being governed ruled by a geriatric Alzheimer patient/puppet whose strings are being pulled by an elitist oligarchy who believe they can manage the world... imagine the utter maniacal, sociopathic hubris!
