The 1k in my state could be misleading , they are permanent cadre at mostly 3 to four areas of storage and training and two are also very large training areas.so there are many times many thousands more than that here for what is usually a few weeks at a time for annual training for guard and reserve and training before deployment into non US/Europe theater for active duty Army
