Intersting video, but at 7:30 Nate got this wrong when he said "Khalif was born with a vagina, ovaries and all female parts." That's not true. People born with Swyer syndrome do not have ovaries.
https://www.cancer.gov/publications/...swyer-syndrome
A rare genetic condition in which people who have an X chromosome and a Y chromosome (the usual pattern for males) look female. They have normal female reproductive organs, including a uterus, fallopian tubes, and vagina. However, the ovaries do not develop and are replaced by clumps of tissue where they would normally form. Swyer syndrome is usually not diagnosed until puberty, when menstrual periods do not begin as they should. Having Swyer syndrome increases the risk of certain types of germ cell tumors.
Nate is wrong again at 11:45 where he says "Thomas went through male puberty btu Khalif went through female puberty." People with Swyer syndrome don't go through puberty at all.
https://my.clevelandclinic.org/healt...swyer-syndrome
Swyer syndrome affects sexual development. People with this intersex condition have XY (male) chromosomes and functional female genitalia. With Swyer syndrome, ovaries or testes never develop, so you won’t go through puberty unless you have hormone replacement therapy.
Nate may have given too much credit for the "House" episode where the doctor says the patient has "perfect breasts" and that the "ultimate woman is a man." Contrast that with Khalif who is flat chested. Same with the other Swyer syndrome boxer from Taiwan. They look every bit like a man.
Nate is correct at 5:57 when he says that before puberty girls and boys are similar atheletically but boys get a boost from puberty. But Nate is apparently unaware of the fact that puberty hurts girls when it comes to atheletic performance. That's because girls gain fat weight (like in the breasts) and their hips become wider to prepare for childbirth.
https://al.milesplit.com/articles/31...stance-runners
Though the research suggests that puberty could have some effect on the performance rate of male and female distance runners, there are many variables that prevent the determination of a causational relationship between the two. The effects of puberty should have a negative effect on the times of female runners. The weight gain is in mostly due to an increase in fat content which would hinder any female athlete in competition (NASPE, 1989). Also, puberty in females includes the widening of the hips which changes the stride of the runner, and could possibly negatively affect the times of the runner (NASPE, 1989)
So it's not just going through male puberty that gives XY an advantage it's also not going through female puberty that gives XY an advantage.
Now, Swyer syndrome is jost one variation of DSD. Castor Semenya, the runner, also has DSD but it seems to be different becasue Castor naturally has high testosterone levels and at one point was forced to take drugs to moderate the hormone levels.
See: https://www.vice.com/en/article/the-...iscrimination/
So....yeah sorry Nate. You called this one wrong. There is a biological advantage to Swyer syndrome. As for being beaten by XX women before? I bet a peak Clarissa Shields would have beaten Logan Paul early in hiis career (like when he first started training). Lin Yu Ting and Iman Khalif are in different weight classes so unfortnately we'll never know who's the better XY woman but I firmly expect both to win gold.

Did he call it wrong, though?
I don't recall him explicitly asserting that "there is [no] biological advantage to Swyer syndrome" (relative to XX women with female physiology). I've only watched the video once, though, so maybe he did say that and I just missed it or don't remember. (You should leave a comment on the video about the "ovaries" and "female puberty" errors, if someone else hasn't already done it. Those are good points.)
In any case, Nate was not rebutting that Khelif has some kind of "biological advantage" over (at least some, perhaps many) women [1] so much as he was rebutting the false notion that Khelif is merely a "transwoman" (i.e., a man with XY chromosomes and a dick whose only basis for claiming to be a woman is "because I say so"). That false notion is an impression a lot of people seem to be under - but in this particular case, things are a lot more interesting than that (and not nearly as simple).
[1] As individuals, lots of non-Swyer women have other biological advantages over other women, for myriad causes (and it's the same way among men). One of the main points of athletics is to exploit those individual advantages in competition with others. Athletics is not solely a matter of training.
At 10:50 Nate says "Now thiwas was overturned because having XY chromosomes does not mean someone has an unfair advantage over a woman. Matter of fact Khalif lost to women 9 times." So...I'm not sure how else to interpret that. I agree with Nate (and you) assessment that Iman Kalif is not trans and JK Rowling and others jumped the gun on that. This is very similar (though slighly different) to Castor Semenya who is also not trans. Castor has elevanted testoteron. Most people realize Castor is not trans but she was deemed to have a significant physical advantage. My conclusion is Swyer syndrome is not as proounced of an advantage but it's not "nothing." So should they be allowed to compete in women's sports? I guess. I remember the double amputee "blade runner" also from South Africa who was considered to have an advantage from his crabon fiber blaces. I don't consider him a "cheat" but.....I dunno.

Stop the presses! It turns out that apparently it's never been confirmed that Iman Khalif has Swyer syndrome at all! See the article below. Key takaways in bold are:
1) There's no confirmation that Iman Khalif has "Swyer syndrome." I think people extrapolated that from the fact that it's been admitted that Khalif has XY chromosomes and Swyer syndrome is one example of peeople who have XY chromosomes but natureally develope (somewhat) female genitalia. (No ovaries but fallopion tube and uterous).
2) The IOC by it's own admission just takes women at their word based on passports and does not do scientifice eligibility tests.
3) An official IOC spokesperson is on record saying that women with male testosteron levels are allowed to compete against other women.

Imane Khelif condition, explained: Fact-checking the XY chromosome at center of gender eligibility controversy
(Getty Images)
The controversy surrounding Algeria's Imane Khelif has not died down. With the female welterweight boxer set to compete for a gold medal on Friday, it once again offers the chance for misinformation surrounding the debacle to come to light.
The ongoing controversy surrounding Khelif, along with Taipei's Lin Yu-ting, remains the loudest talking point of the Summer Games. The pair of boxers have been in the spotlight after it was revealed that the two were banned from the 2023 World Championships due to failed gender eligibility tests administered by the International Boxing Association (IBA).
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has supported the boxers' participation in the 2024 Paris Games, hence why the two remain in the competition. Both the IOC and IBA have given their sides of the debate, however, the complete details of the situation remain murky.
With that said, here is what we know about the facts of the Khelif case and the ongoing conversation that has followed.
DeCOURCY: Imane Khelif's current opponent is bigger than her sport
Imane Khelif condition, explained
In most cases. if an individual is revealed to have XY chromosomes, they would fall under the male gender. However, there are exceptions, as there are certain conditions that can allow a woman to present XY chromosomes.
What is DSD?
DSD stands for differences in sexual development. They are a group of conditions involving genes, hormones and reproductive organs, according to the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
Some people with DSDs that are raised as female may have sex chromosomes other than XX, or potentially also elevated testosterone levels, according to NIH.
It is not true that athletes with variations in their sex traits, or DSDs, are the same as transgender athletes. Conflating the two is considered to be inaccurate.
It is not verified that Khelif has a variation in sex traits or DSDs, according to GLAAD and interACT.
What is Swyer Syndrome?
Swyer syndrome is a rare genetic condition in which an individual has one X chromosome and one Y chromosome in each cell (typically found in males), but they have female reproductive structures, according to the National Cancer Institute.
It is not verified if Khelif has been diagnosed with Swyer syndrome.
Imane Khelif is a woman, not transgender
Khelif is a woman, according to GLAAD and interACT. She is not transgender, and does not identify as intersex. She has competed as a woman in boxing for years.
Imane Khelif gender test results
Khelif was one of two boxers to fail a gender eligibility test ahead of the 2023 World Boxing Championships. Those competitions are sanctioned by the IBA, and it was the same group that administered the tests.
The IBA said that these tests revealed that Khelif has XY chromosomes, which are most commonly found in males. This is what started the controversy in the first place.
The group previously stated that "the athletes did not undergo a testosterone examination but were subject to a separate and recognized test, whereby the specifics remain confidential." But IBA president Umar Kremlev contradicted that statement at a press conference during the Olympics.
"We got the test results that they allowed us to take themselves and these tests show they have a high level of testosterone like a man," Kremlev said through a translator. "Man's level of testosterone."
DeCOURCY: IBA's ugly press conference further imperils boxing's Olympic future
The IOC defended Khelif's eligibility amid the controversy, releasing a statement before the Olympics that said "every person has the right to practice sport without discrimination."
"The two athletes were the victims of a sudden and arbitrary decision by the IBA," the IOC said, arguing that Khelif and Yu-Ting "were suddenly disqualified without any due process."
"The Algerian boxer was born female, was registered female, lived her life as a female, boxed as a female, has a female passport," IOC spokesperson Mark Adams said during a media briefing. "This is not a transgender case."
The organization does not use the gender eligibility tests that the IBA utilize. Instead, the IOC went back to using passports to determine age and gender, which were the previous regulations used at prior Olympics.
"Many women can have testosterone which will be called 'male levels' and still be women and still compete as women," IOC spokesman Adams said. "This idea that you do one test for testosterone and that sorts everything out? Not the case I'm afraid."
There is well-documented bad blood between the two organizations. The IOC banned the IBA from the Olympics in 2023, causing the ongoing dispute between the two groups. Considering the IOC doesn't currently recognize the IBA, it does not come as a surprise that the result of the IBA's tests and the bans that followed were not held up by the IOC.
"The IOC has made it clear that it needs National Boxing Federations to reach a consensus around a new International Federation," the IOC said in its statement.
The IOC also has threatened to remove boxing from the 2028 Olympics altogether if no changes are made to the process of sanctioning fights.
Ultimately, Khelif checked the boxes that are required in order to compete in the 2024 Olympics. While she may have been disqualified from the World Championships sanctioned by the IBA, those standards do not apply to the IOC and the Olympics.
It's possible (likely I think) that Iman Khalif and Liu Yu Ting have male levels of testosterone and that's giving them an advantage. Is it "unfair?" If Imane Khalif, without doing anything to alter her body, is someoe with famle characterists but some advantages that men have, is it an unfair advantage? Some people have brought up a comparison to Michael Phelps who, like the mutant X-man Quicksilver, something about his genetics changes the way lactic acid builds up in his body. Quicksilver exhales lactic acid. Michael Phelps, on the other hand, produces half the lactic acid of a normal human.
Is it possible that either of these people are transgender? Well, Imane comes from Algeria. While suprisingly enough, Iran allows (and even pays for I think) transgender surgery and (if I recall correctly) forces gay people to transition as it's more acceptable to them than someone being gay (you still see what looks to be a man and a woman walking down the street) I cannot find any evidence that Algeria is like that. So...what's the possibility that Algeria would allow people born with male genitaliar to put "woman" on their passport? Seems unlikely. But from the standard that the IOC from its own admission is going from, if any country allowed people to put whatever gender they want on their transcript the IOC would accept it.
Now, something that I had told @Occam's Banana about South African runner Caster Semenya seems to be wrong. I thought she was banned from all competion unless she took drugs to lower her testosterone levels. Seems that was only for non Olympic competition. Her Olympic records when she competed with high (for a woman) testosterone levels still stancs.
https://olympics.com/en/athletes/caster-semenya
So....the Olympics have been doing this since at least 2012.
Mind = blown.

The path to tranquility is through the Gospel, only. So, it is Jesus who teaches us in time. We will lay down in green pastures, and our cup runs over, but the Kingdom of God has not yet arrived in fullness, and we know that because God is not yet praised from every rooftop, and the mouths of the blasphemers have not yet been stomped shut. Their day is coming. SOON...

Probably you do. But the Texan featured in the above music video is quite ugly.
