Secret Service did not sweep building where shooter was perched

The US Secret Service did not sweep the building from which the shooter in Saturday’s attempted assassination was perched, but instead leaned on local law enforcement to conduct security at that location.

The spokesman added that there was supposed to be local law enforcement posted in that area, but it is not clear where that post was supposed to be located. A source not directly involved but with knowledge of Secret Service operations described possible roaming posts, for example, as part of some operational plans.

The Secret Service regularly and successfully works with local law enforcement agencies to assist with securing events, as is the case in Milwaukee where the Republican National Convention is about to kick off.

Further, the Secret Service utilized two local counter-sniper teams during former President Donald Trump’s rally, in addition to two Secret Service counter-sniper teams.

The spokesman did not know at the time of CNN’s inquiry which local agency should have been responsible for the building.

Throughout my life I've had a lot of experience with people telling me it's raining when my face clearly smells like piss.
Seems like every six months for the last 30 years there's been something in the news that everyone is just supposed to pretend is something far less severe than it is.
I mean, on average, that is. It's definitely accelerated in the last 10 years. We had to wait years in between Waco, Ruby Ridge, Bosnia, etc... now it seems like every week there's a new outright lie happening.

They literally spent hours reporting "loud bangs" and "Trump injured at rally". They literally couldn't bring themselves even to admit it was a shooting.

One hour after the shooting you could turn on alternate media and there were already people joking about how CIA sniper training is clearly not what it was in 1963.

Even the Chi-coms know their media is bullshitting them. They might be forced at gunpoint to publicly believe it's true, they might get turned into polymerized museum exhibits if they ever say out loud that they don't believe it, but they all know better.

We're ostensibly still free to dissent.

Me, too. They're destroying everything in pursuit of their goal, the credibility of the legacy media, the dollar, the risk of a Kennedy undoing this coup that put them in charge. This is not business as usual.

Of course it won't be solved as easily as voting one person into one office. The bad news is I think I have good reason to fear that a significant portion of the population could be duped into trading in the Constitution for a charismatic "hero".

Watch and see if there isn't conditioning in media aimed at the Right suggesting that would be a worthwhile trade. Of course they won't be making it as easy as voting. But if I am right about this, there will be a way to have Trump that's easier than fighting. And I won't like it.

Yeah, heard that today. The building was definitely the responsibility of local LE, although you'd think the SS would have emphasized the risk from that location.

Eyewitnesses even from the first day were saying that there were 2 or more cops near the building, but could not see on top of the building (obviously).

So basically, they have a couple of cops positioned standing around, probably in front, who can not possibly see the entire perimeter of the building, and can not see on top of it. The shooter ran up to the building and climbed up according to witnesses. There was never any mention of cops being present at the time and location where the shooter ran and climbed.

Fault still on the SS. Word going down to a local cop on the day of the speech to go "secure that building", and that translates to standing next to the building, is a total failure.

And we should keep in mind that when a cop finally climbed up to look on the roof, he immediately was face to face with an AR-15 that had the drop on him. Hard to pull out your gun when you are using both hands to climb. And apparently the shooter start shooting right after that, which means there was no time for a confirmation message to get out.

Now the case could be made that when witnesses started yelling "there's a shooter on the roof", the cops on the scene could have relayed that message to the SS (instead of checking it out themselves). How long does that message take with all of the likely middle-people involved?

I can accept that the threat wasn't eliminated. No one wants to start firing only to find out it was an undercover agent or some other situation.

What I can't accept is that no one made the call to remove Trump from the stage until the potential threat was confirmed or explained.
