Left-progressivism is totalist in nature, and thus politicizes everything.
As a result, just about everything posted at RPFs can be considered to have a significant "political" angle of some sort or another.
That doesn't mean all of it should go in the "U.S. Political News" subforum, though. If anything, strict application of USPN's description ("Only for political news and related current events pertaining to the U.S. government, topics include both domestic and foreign affairs" - bold emphasis added) would result in many other threads being moved as well (and not inappropriately so) to Open Discussion or other subforums. (And if, as they say, "politics is downstream of culture", then it would seem to follow that "U.S. Political News is downstream of Open Discussion")
Ultimately, it's a judgement call - and as I have put other "pride month" threads (including those started by myself) in Open Discussion, putting this one there simply maintains some degree of consistency, if nothing else.

That is, how did a bunch of mid-level bureaucrats suddenly have the power in 2020 to simply push a button and lock 330+ million Americans in their homes, overnight? That can't happen by some organic process arising out of piecemeal bureaucratic response to an apparent national emergency. There exists some mechanism which has been constructed on our soil, but out of sight of the American public, by which the bureaucracies of this country have a power that exceeds the capabilities of the US military in the sense that even the military couldn't lock down the whole country, overnight, short of cutting the power-grid, bombing interstate bridges, or something drastic like that. And given that this power exists, the question is: where was it born? Who created it? How long has it been alive? And why is this alien entity in our country? How do we dismantle it?
That we are talking about it puts us lightyears ahead of, say, a North Korean worker. It's not because they haven't tried to impose North Korean-level tyranny on US soil. I don't know what you learned during RP's runs for president. This is what I learned.
1) People are capable of waking up.
2) More people than we expect would wake up, actually wake up when they have the information.
3) It's now possible, in a way that has never existed before in history, for the newly awakened to find each other. And the ways to find each other keep increasing and morphing faster than the evil powers Clayton mentioned are capable of dealing with.
4) Revolutions are not won by a majority. They are won by an irate, tireless minority.
I don't know your history prior to 2008 or so. My history is that I used to be a statist, and I used to be fairly supportive of the gay agenda. Now I'm neither of those things. I have changed really radically in the last 15 years. It's possible. When you act like it's not possible, you're saying what happened with me, didn't happen.
Am I enough? Are the other "me"s enough? I don't know - but what I do know is, if you're ever in the DC area and need help, and you let me know, I'll help. And I expect the reverse is true if I was in New England. We're forming a network that didn't exist prior, and without those networks, we have a lot less of a leg to stand on when we're talking about smashing government networks.
Just last weekend I met a guy with nine kids (I think it's amazing how many families I know like that now) and let's be honest, if you have nine kids, y'aint got time for this trans $#@!... and we talked at length about how the hell he found a 15 passenger van these days, because lack of van availability is actually a very serious problem being caused by the deep state, and so passenger vans are the lowest priority for auto manufacturers.
That's what it's about. It's not about finding a way to smash everything that they've spent a century setting up. Well, it would be nice if it was, but it's not. It's about everyday interactions that make our lives better without using the state.
I didn't come back here after a long hiatus to talk black pills. But to answer an important question you posited in your post regarding COVID lockdowns: how did they do this? What was the mechanism they used?
It's very simple: they used the Model State Emergency Health Powers Act
This is yet another bastard child spawn of 9-11. Composed in less than three months from the attack on 9-11, it gave the states and the feds HUGE new powers and systems of control. It's thousands of pages long and almost incomprehensible to an average citizen.
People like me, at the time, jumped up and down and raised holy hell about it, we warned people that it would be used for tyrannical lockdowns, arrests, seizure of property and so on.
We were mocked, dismissed and ignored as "conspiracy theorists".
But that was the tool they used in United States.
