Trump to address LP 2024 national convention

    RELATED:

President Trump to Address Libertarian Party Concerns at National Convention May 25th

Washington, D.C., May 1, 2024 — The Libertarian National Party, the Party of Principle, announced today that President Donald J. Trump has responded to an invitation, and challenge, from the Libertarian Party to speak at its National Convention, and directly address concerns voiced by its members. President Trump will speak on Saturday, May 25th, in Washington, D.C.

Members of the Libertarian Party will share a list of their top ten issues with President Trump in advance of the convention, hoping to make an impact on the policy positions of a past, and possibly future, President.

Angela McArdle states, "For 50 years, we've been trying to get our candidates on the main stage with major party POTUS candidates and we've finally succeeded in bringing one to our stage. We will do everything in our power to use this incredible opportunity to advance the message of liberty."

“Libertarians are some of the most independent and thoughtful thinkers in our Country, and I am honored to join them in Washington, DC, later this month,” said President Trump. “We must all work together to help advance freedom and liberty for every American, and a second Trump Administration will achieve that goal. I look forward to speaking at the Libertarian Event, which will be attended by many of my great friends. We all have to remember that our goal is to defeat the Worst President in the History of the United States, BY FAR, Crooked Joe Biden. If Libertarians join me and the Republican Party, where we have many Libertarian views, the election won’t even be close. We cannot have another four years of death, destruction, and incompetence. WE WILL WORK TOGETHER AND WIN!”

The theme for the 2024 Libertarian National Convention is “Become Ungovernable.” This was chosen following the previous years of unconscionable authoritarian actions by the United States Federal, and State governments, which saw citizens confined, indoctrinated, lied to, and inoculated against their will. The citizens of these United States must become ungovernable to regain their basic rights and freedoms. This year’s convention will welcome world-renowned speakers, activists, and thinkers, as well as decide the Libertarian presidential candidate for the 2024 election cycle. There is no greater collection, nor community, of freedom, liberty, and independently-minded people.

Speakers confirmed thus far for the Convention include: President Donald J. Trump, cardiologist and epidemiologist, Dr. Peter McCullough, filmmaker, and brother of Julian Assange, Gabriel Shipton, “Part of the Problem Host,”Dave Smith, freedom advocate, historian and Bitcoin futurist, Robert Breedlove, and Jo Anne and Mark Skousen, longtime liberty activists, founders of Freedom Fest and the Anthem LIbertarian Film Festival. More speakers will be confirmed in the coming months.

Biden was invited, too - but there's not a chance in hell his handlers would permit him to appear in such a venue (not that they'll let him do many if any public appearances, anyway - for obvious reasons, and regardless of how friendly the venue might be).

Cool man. Excited to see him take some questions from some actual libertarians. Who is the most libertarian person that he has been interviewed by before, Hannity?

When JFK Jr. told the democrat establishment to go $#@! itself when he spoke at PorcFest last year in NH, everybody cheered.

Rightly so, and had things worked out differently I would have been happy to go see him, even though he holds many astonishingly anti-liberty positions.

So why is Trump an $#@! for doing the same damn thing, essentially?

I thought the whole point was to get people thinking outside the box, outside the...*sigh*..."left - right paradigm".

So now, for better or worse, the front running presidential candidate and one of the best known candidates ever, whether loved or hated, is coming to "our" turf, to hear us out, get exposed to our ideas and try to debate our principles.

And "our" response is to mock, ridicule and make stupid wise cracks.

I didn't cheer. If anything, I mildly catcalled by posting a couple of tweets critical of the "no guns" policy for his appearance.

"So why is Trump an $#@! for doing the same damn thing, essentially?"

He's not. I don't think anyone in this thread has suggested that he's an $#@! - at least, not for that reason.

If anything, it's just the opposite - over on Twitter, you can find plenty of people who think the LP are the $#@!s for inviting him.

I have even posted some of Dave Smith's defense of the invitation as an "undeniably great thing", for whatever that might be worth.

I don't speak for others, but any mocking or wise-cracking I have done thus far (or am likely to do on this topic in the days to come) is a product of the intersection of two factors: the potent memeability of Donald J. Trump, and the at-least-as-potent memeability of libertarian "autism". The superlative memeability of either of those things - not to mention the potential for their miscibility - is a quality with which RFK Jr. is not nearly as well-endowed, for better and/or worse. (I suspect this, rather than favoritism or bias, explains much of the relative dearth of wise-crackery with regard to him and PorcFest or the like.)

Losertarians gotta find a way to lose.
And to make sure to sacrifice any hope for incremental progress by demanding perfection immediately.

Trump was the best POTUS in living memory and did more good than bad, now he's moving further in our direction, so naturally the losertarians want to drive him away and make him think moving their direction will not be beneficial.

    Maybe for you.
But considering the people here trying to hoodwink people into supporting RFK in spite of his objectively far worse positions on liberty issues I can say absolutely that with the leftarians it's because they have a crush on the left and are willing to swallow camels from the left in return for a few empty words on a couple of issues while straining at gnats of imperfection from anyone on the right no matter how good most of their positions are.

Trump gave Israel nothing it didn't already have.
And he worked on bringing peace to the region to disentangle us and prepare Israel to stand on its own two feet without us.

RFK has totally endorsed Israel without the criticisms Trump has made in the current conflict and he backed their deepstate against the Judicial Reforms.

You are again straining at gnats and swallowing camels.

He is an $#@! that has millions and millions and millions of devoted followers and fans.

Why do you not want them to hear about libertarian ideas?

You, more than anybody else left here on this board, have said that the people are starved for the truth, that they have not been exposed to the real ideas of liberty, and if only they were, we could unite and overcome our oppressors.

Well, here is a huge opportunity to do exactly that.

And instead of embracing that opportunity and doing whatever little bit you can to grease the skids to make it happen, you instead scoff and mock and complain.

    Do better.

Well, everything about the LP inviting him to speak makes sense, especially since it was made it clear one of the biggest points is to rub his nose in some of the things he did already.

But from Trump's standpoint, you're right, it makes zero sense. He didn't go to the GOP debates because he didn't need to, and it looked better for him in the long run not to. If that's the calculus, then the only reason for him to go to the LP convention is the reverse - he thinks he needs to, or that it will look better in the long run for him to do it.

I don't make a secret of my negative feelings for Trump... but unlike those with positive feelings for him, I can actually put my feelings aside for a second and recognize that Trump doesn't operate on the same wavelength as anyone else. He does what he does for reasons that aren't on anyone's map. My personal analysis of the man is that this is probably how he made his fortune - taking actions that nobody else understands and then walking away with millions is pretty par for the course for billionaires.

I think that's everyone's problem with him - you just can't tell what's going on in his head. That's what drives the Left crazy - any other R candidate is preferable because they can all be anticipated and therefore controlled. I mean that's the only explanation I can think of for why they're still so bat$#@! crazy about Trump despite getting a lot of things they wanted during his term.

I suppose that's the dumb thing about inviting him - McArdle said in the video above that they want to preach libertarianism to him so much he repeats it back to them. Ok good luck with that - the dude says all sorts of things and then does the exact opposite. Because whatever is going on in his head, he seems to be good at doing the math and figuring out that if his personal agenda requires him to do something like create a federal program to assist in gender transitions for middle schoolers, he can go ahead and do it because he knows what the fallout will be before even trying and he knows it's not going to make people hate him more than Biden.

So I think I have an explanation though.... I remember way back in the day listening to G Gordon Liddy talk on his radio program about a guy he knew that was a complete ass with women. The type of guy who would just walk up to a woman on the street and say "hey baby wanna screw?" And Liddy said he asked him, hey, don't you get slapped a lot? And the guy responded yeah, I do, but I also get laid a lot.
My belief is that Mr "Grab her by the pussy" is doing that to the LP. He knows, not believes but knows, that he's going to go be an ass and that some of the LP faithful are going to like that. And he has probably already done the math and figured out how that advances his personal agenda.

I do. I very much do. And I want to see if his fanbois react like sentient beings when they expose him as the pompous ass he is, or if they get mad at the messenger. You know. The way all these women whose immune systems have shut down don't blame Big Pharma or the government who lied to them, but blame the very people who tried to warn them.

I expect the messengers to be shot. But I'm still for it, and looking forward to it. Hypocrisy on parade.

No, it's that portion of the MAGA demographic who are obsessed with us, like Swordy, whose abiding infatuation with Trump will be deepened when the Libertarians expose his "conservative" hypocrisy. Remember, Republicans refuse to play victim cards themselves, but they love and adore candidates who play victim cards...
