The California Senate candidate has received the backing of Our Revolution, as top Congressional Progressive Caucus leaders argue that her advocacy for peace and justice distinguishes her as a candidate.

Although Lee is the obvious choice, she is very anti-war. She voted against the AUMF and for removing all troops from Syria.
She also used to chum it up with Louis Farrakhan. Even though she tweeted against him, she is not trusted as part of the club.

Internet rumor..... Newsom appoints Kamala Harris to the Senate seat, Biden then appoints Newsome as VP. Biden steps down before end of term. Newsom runs for President as a sitting POTUS.

I don't think Newsom will appoint Lee because she is anti-war, and there are suspicions she has "anti-Semitic" thoughts.
The conspiracy theory involving placing Newsom into the VP role as Biden's replacement can be accomplished two ways.
Feinstein is on record saying she prefers Alex Padilla as her replacement. Although this would contradict Newsom's pledge (2021) to appoint a black woman, what would happen is Harris would take back Padilla's vacant seat (her own old seat), in exchange for leadership role after Schumer retires, and Padilla moves into Feinstein's.
So, there's two ways to make Kamala Senate leader and get Newsom into VP. Most likely would be satisfying Feinstein's wish by appointing Padilla, which opens up Harris to her old seat instead of going to Feinstein's. They just need Harris and Biden's cooperation.

I'd be happy with a Barbara Lee pick out of all the people that have a chance of being chosen. Great on foreign policy and some civil liberty issues like drug policy reform and opposing the Patriot Act. I know Ron has worked with her on foreign policy stuff.

Apparently she does support aid to Ukraine, but she's well known for being one of the most antiwar members of Congress, including her vote against the 2001 AUMF which she took a lot of heat for at the time (even Ron voted for it). So she's almost certainly better than anyone else Newsom would consider appointing.
And yes, she is great on cannabis reform too which we need more of in the Senate where things are currently stalled.
Of course that was written by some unknown staffer.

California? They will go even further. Non-white, non-christian and probably transgender. This is the party that specifically stated they will only condsider a non-white woman for VP.
