    Federal government "shutdown" (2023 edition)

    https://www.cnbc.com/2023/09/23/the-...hats-next.html

    The federal government is heading toward a shutdown that will disrupt many services, squeeze workers and roil politics as Republicans in the House, fueled by hard-right demands for deep cuts, force a confrontation over federal spending.

    A shutdown happens when Congress fails to pass some type of funding legislation that is signed into law by the president.

    When no funding legislation is enacted, federal agencies have to stop all non-essential work and will not send paychecks as long as the shutdown lasts.
    Yes, I know we go through this dog-n-pony show repeatedly but here's a thread in case it does happen this time. A shutdown would allow for a lot of tptb's desired changes to be made (create problems, offer solutions) and fits well with other priorities, such as CBDC rollout in October (per LaGarde quote).

They have never yet and they never will have the sense to reflect that this hobby-horse is a manifest violation of the most important law of nature, which has established from the very creation of the world one unit unlike another and precisely for the purpose of instituting individuality."- A Quote From Some Old Book

    The Senate can not originate spending/appropriation bills. That's a long standing rule and tradition.

    That is all.

    OMG is the government going to collapse??
    It's all about taking action and not being lazy. So you do the work, whether it's fitness or whatever. It's about getting up, motivating yourself and just doing it.

    GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN: DEMOCRATS Put UKRAINE FIRST and AMERICA LAST

    {Jack Hunter | 30 September 2023}

    The Democratic Party seems willing to shutdown the government if they can’t get more funding for the US-proxy war with Russia in Ukraine.

    Passed without the 6 billion to Ukraine. I guess that can be considered a win. Fund our country not theirs.

    45 days of funding with no Ukraine aid.

    They'll weasel that in later somehow.

    Biden also said the United States “cannot under any circumstances allow American support for Ukraine to be interrupted” and expected McCarthy “will keep his commitment to the people of Ukraine and secure passage of the support needed to help Ukraine at this critical moment.”

    The ones who aren't outright sociopaths pretty much have to believe it, if only as a reflexive psychic defense mechanism.

    (To paraphrase Upton Sinclair: it's unlikely a man will understand a thing when the preservation of his self-regard depends upon his not understanding it.)
