Thread: Federal government "shutdown" (2023 edition)

  1. #31
@SpeakerMcCarthy passed today’s Continuing Resolution on suspension. He violated our conference rules by doing so

“Rule 29—Guidelines on Suspension of House Rules (a) The Republican Leader shall not schedule, or request to have scheduled, any bill or resolution for consideration under suspension of the Rules which— (1) fails to include a cost estimate, or for which the cost estimate exceeds $100,000,000, unless fully offset by at least an equal reduction in current spending”

But I guess Massie is just fine with that.

You're a lot better at sucking Trump's cock than sneering at Massie.

Trump spoke words that have no effect.

If the thought of that doesn't turn you heterosexual, nothing will.
    On Trump:
How conservative Republicans can continue to support this arrogant imposter—the man who brags about inflicting the world with the Covid mark of the beast; the man who said, “Take the guns first, go through due process second”; and the man who deliberately played and then set up Stewart Rhodes (of course, Stewart was all too eager to be Trump’s patsy) for an 18-year prison sentence—is truly beyond my comprehension.” Chuck Baldwin

I have to be fair, in defense of that threesome of the said three individuals, the old adage is still true, "The heart wants what the heart wants".

Interesting you're still holding this grudge. Trump is smart enough to play nice with Massie, having completely failed to ruin him. Are you just mad because we keep reminding you why Trump threw the hissy fit in the first place? As in, because Massie wouldn't listen to Trump when he ordered him to let Pelosi suspend the Constitution...

Just wait a minute here....or two...well anyways he'll respond, just hold on.

Yeah, that Thomas Massie $#@! is nothing but a third-rate grandstander and abject McCarthy toady. (obviously). He's not at all like Donald "Operation-Warp-Speeding, Fauci-honoring, taking-the-guns-first-due-processing-later, best-people-hiring-John-Bolton-appointing, Lindsey-Grahan-ass-kissing, etc., etc., etc." Trump.

I mean, it's not even close.

Yeah, McCuckthy didn't need his vote so he could keep his cover.
Now McCuckthy is at risk of being deposed so he is trying to save him.

Trump has done more good on balance than Massie ever has or ever will.
Massie is there for us whenever it doesn't do any good, and he is increasingly there for RINOs like McCuckthy when it counts.

You were there ( there's no other way you could know for certain it was false)?

So, if you know what isn't what the man said, you must know what he did say. So tell--but remember, I'm just going to post the video so people can figure out for themselves who is lying...

The logic of the claim fails.
The actions involved did not even come close to causing CoG, and while Massie was correct about the rules his insistence on them could have been used to trigger it.
The House was attempting to pass "must pass" legislation and he tried prevent them from doing so without a quorum, had they been unable to pass the legislation (they did pass it anyway) they could have tried to implement CoG.

He didn't say Trump was in on a plot to suspend the Constitution.
Please do post the video as it proves you are making things up.

The War On Us - Rep. Thomas Massie
    https://odysee.com/@RonPaul:d/the-wa...part2-massie:5

What you said and what Massie said are two different things.
Massie speculated that Pelosi wanted to use the bill to somehow launch a coup, that may or may not be what she was doing.
Trump wanting the same bill to be passed doesn't mean he had the same motive even if that is what Pelosi was doing.
You claimed that his concerns and speculation were proven fact and that they applied to Trump.
Massie did not ever claim that Trump was trying to impose CoG.
But even if he was right about Pelosi he only said Trump pressured him to let the bill pass, that does not mean Trump was in on any plot she had.

Like I said, the House was attempting to pass "must pass" legislation and he tried prevent them from doing so without a quorum, had they been unable to pass the legislation (they did pass it anyway) they could have tried to implement CoG.
If the Bill passed there would be no basis for claiming the government was unable to function so CoG could be invoked.

Why do you keep falling back on the "Trump is an imbecile" defense? Do you really consider that a strong selling point?

None of them could be good.

That's why you keep calling him an imbecile, remember? Because there's only two reasons someone could have for doing something that evil--either they're evil or they're stupid. And you keep choosing to believe Trump is stupid because thinking he's 4D Chess Smart would require you to admit to yourself he's evil.

And that's how cognitive dissonance makes clowns of people.

    False.
He was not all powerful and had to make choices between the best of bad options many times.
