Need a video downloader.

Most browsers used to have extensions which allowed you to download damn near any video.

Now, Alphabet has prevented these extensions from working on various sites, including youtube.

This sucks major balls.

Anyone got a work around?

Use a Mozilla-based browser (such as Firefox) with an appropriate extension (such as Video DownloadHelper).

Or don't use a browser at all. Instead, use a command-line program like `youtube-dl` (https://ytdl-org.github.io/youtube-dl/).

Note that youtube-dl was having issues last time I used it (a year or so ago?) so I've switched to yt-dlp. The easiest way to install yt-dlp (IMO) is to install Python, and then follow the steps on the yt-dlp Github page to install it. It's just one command to install, and then use the command-line interface to download, very easy.

I've never had any significant problems with it.
