Bills were and contiinue to be introduced, but neither Kevin McCarthy, nor Mitch McConnell do ANYTHING to advance solutions that in some cases BOTH Republicans and Democrats want. Especially now, with many Democrats realizing that the current crisis is "unsustainable" (a word they love) and New York and other northern states are in full panic mode about this situation.
Too bad McConnell did NOTHING to advance Josh Hawley's bill, and McCarthy does NOTHING to advance or create solutions working with select Democrats (which is DEFINITELY POSSIBLE NOW) to help our country reverse this situation.
McCarthy today criticized NYC Mayor Adams. What a stupid tact. Adams is on our side now and wants to DO SOMETHING to STOP THIS.
McCarthy offers NO SOLUTIONS but only "protect the border", blah blah blah. That's for the FUTURE. What about NOW????
Hawley in the Senate and others in House have been TRYING to stop this since last year. For example, the power to DEPORT the migrants being granted to the States, something McCarthy and McConnell are NOT BACKING. They let solutions DIE in "Committees" and "Subcommittees". McCarthy is so incompetent and/or traitorous that he allowed the Subcommitte on Immigration and Citizenship which was in Democrat hands to disband, rather than staff it with a Republican majority. Why is that important? Because it's where key Democrats on the issue sit, but moreover, it's where Gosar's duplicate of the Hawley bill was shelved last fall. A Republican majority could have and SHOULD HAVE advanced that bill to the floor, and today the House would have already sent to the Senate a bill that would allow States to deport undocumented migrants and to enforce ALL Federal immigration laws when the Federal government refuses to do so. Would McCarthy even vote for that bill? Maybe NOT !!!
Migrant crisis 'will destroy' New York City, says mayor

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy is weighing into the migrant crisis in New York, accusing the state's Democratic leadership of "throwing in the towel" by failing to deal with the roots of illegal immigration.
In a statement, McCarthy took aim at the influx of tens of thousands of migrants to New York, saying that "finger-pointing and frustration" over the crisis has led to a "total breakdown" between the White House and New York City Mayor Eric Adams and other top New York Democrats.
He urged the state's Democratic congressional lawmakers to support a previously approved GOP House border security bill that has stalled in the Democratic-controlled Senate.
"While New York Democrats complain that it's unfair for Biden’s open-border crisis to be New York’s problem, they’ve taken no action to actually solve the crisis," he said." If enacted into law, this border security bill would immediately restart construction on the wall and hire more border patrol agents to stop the flow that has created the crisis throughout the country.
