In addressing the court toward the end of the sentencing hearing, Tarrio apologized to law enforcement, the residents of D.C., congressional lawmakers and their staffers who were present on Jan. 6. He called that day a “national embarrassment,” but stopped short of admitting to engaging in the plot of which a jury convicted him.

I don't think we're next. We're on the list, but not nearly effective or influential enough to cause any serious problems. 15 years ago maybe.

It's not that we have any influence or can effectively change policy or have our views represented.

    It's that we exist.

Maoist China, Nazi Germany, Hutu Rwanda, Khmer Rouge Cambodia, Chavez Venezuela, Jacobin France...sigh...the list is endless.

When the new Authority takes power, nothing of the old will be allowed to survive.

    That means us.

The "justice" system is now politized, the government is jailing political prisoners, and a uni-party has been established.

The entire enation is under a level of surveillance that would have made the former East German Stasi drool.

The debt is crippling and can never be paid, so "New Dollars" will soon be issued.

Not necessarily. It could also be used as "proof" to disqualify Trump from the ballot. They don't really need to imprison or kill Trump because time is on their side, since at Trump's age this is probably his last rodeo.

Just take a minute to internalize the fact that you now live in a country that has for real political prisoners and show trials.

I disagree. Politically motivated prosecutions for crimes others have got a pass on in the past maybe. Excessive sentences sure. But I believe the J6 people and Trump are guilty.

Even granting "the J6 people and Trump are guilty", their prosecutions are still "politically motivated", and are "for crimes others have got a pass on" (also for politically motivated reasons). Antifa/BLM rioters, for example, not only "got a pass", but are actually being rewarded [1].

It is not required that the victims be "innocent" in order nevertheless for their prosecutions to be politically motivated, their sentences to be excessive, and their trials in kangaroo courts to be for "show". The guilty can be "railroaded", too (probably even more easily than the innocent, for that matter).

So what is there to disagree with about what AF said (again, even granting "the J6 people and Trump are guilty")?

I think that your hatred of Trump has clouded your judgment.

What some may dismiss as "whataboutism" is inherently relevant to a system of justice, since any such system that overtly enforces unequal application of the law is broken (at least by jurisdiction, assuming one might want to argue over disparity between individual state law, etc.). Most of the nation is not blind to the fact that we witnessed months of left-wing political violence wherein law enforcement and prosecutors seemed to turn a blind eye. Even against those who harmed people during that time, I would be loath to charge the perpetrators for sedition above and beyond the underlying crime itself. Even the courts used to have reservations about creating a chilling effect to freedom of speech and assembly, but that seems to have been compromised.

If a protestor shot a cop, burned down a building, or broke a window, then the government should charge them for those crimes, setting aside esoteric libertarian/anarchoid arguments against law enforcement. However, what we are seeing is 100% politically motivated, and the cruel and ignorant people cheerleading this do not seem to understand that this nation will pay a heavy price just to sate their primal hatred of Trump, who is essentially their effigy of the people they truly hate, the ones who voted for him. Whatever chance there may have been for reconciliation within this nation has been destroyed. At least they stopped Trump though, right?

A person asks a politician to do a constitutionally questionable* thing -> 22 years in prison

Congress critters do decisively unconstitutional things on daily basis -> pat on the back, re-election, and $$

    *not necesssarily even unconstitutional
