Interesting that old turtle master pushed the Kentucky legislature to take away the power of the governor to appoint a replacement. Now it has to be from a list of three candidates that the previous senator's state party chooses

Under the amended law, the governor now may only choose from three names recommended by the executive committee of the outgoing senator's state party, and must make that selection within 21 days of receiving the list from the party.

With both of Kentucky's senators currently being Republican, the choosing of those three nominees would be up to the executive committee of the Republican Party of Kentucky, which is made up of 54 members.

Hmmm. Very partisan method of choosing. Smokey backroom type stuff. On the plus side, it maintains the party preference of the voters based on the prior election of the Senator. It does take some power from a maverick Governor of the same Party though.

Shows you how much he respects us when he doesn't have enough class to quit.

Looks like he has lost a lot of weight recently

McConnell does not have permission to quit. Just like Biden.

Keep him in office. I don’t think he can do as much damage living in the metaverse.

Edit: I wish they were all like that. They could spend their sessions zoned out instead of destroying where we live.

    As opposed to whom else?

I'm with SM - and the more the US Senate comes to resembles Arkham Asylum, the more discredited and disreputable an institution it will become.

(Biden's hapless befuddlement is the best thing about him - and for the same reason.)

    Vax side effect?
    On Trump:
How conservative Republicans can continue to support this arrogant imposter—the man who brags about inflicting the world with the Covid mark of the beast; the man who said, “Take the guns first, go through due process second”; and the man who deliberately played and then set up Stewart Rhodes (of course, Stewart was all too eager to be Trump’s patsy) for an 18-year prison sentence—is truly beyond my comprehension.” Chuck Baldwin

"Credibility" doesn't matter as they still hold the power.

No they don't. Biden, McConnell, Feinstein, Fetterman, et al. are not in charge of anything.

The exposure of the illusion that they are is what discredits their offices (and the institutions of which those offices are part).

That generally nameless, faceless others "behind the scenes" are the ones who actually wield power only serves to reinforce this.

You know those places that pay for plasma donations??? Where do you think that goes? They will say that it's used to "treat illnesses" or "deficiencies" or "for medications"... Nice euphemisms for vampirism from poor people to wealthy and elite athletes.
