Two points here:
In the video that was taken by the car thieves that killed this man randomly and on purpose, it looks to me like the driver is white and the passenger black.
The Las Vegas Journal did edit that headline to call it a "hit and run".
Still...
ETA - Follow up info shows the reporter did not know of the in car video nor did the cops. It was not until the reporter got a copy of the video, did the reporter edit the headline and also report it to the cops.

Regarding "The ‘journalist’ who wrote this headline should be in prison", see the following video @ 8:00+.
The article was an obituary written well before the video was even known to exist - and apparently, the police got the video because of the reporter, who did her job and pursued the story beyond just the obituary. Thus, it is entirely possible - and perhaps even likely - that we would never have even heard of this case, and the perps would not be facing murder charges, if not for this journalist (without "air quotes"). So maybe she doesn't belong in prison, after all. (Also, reporters don't usually write the headlines their stories appear under, anyway.)
