Post Mr. Bean stands up for Free Speech

I think this is from 2014:

Where are all the Hollywood leftists in the wake of rampant COVID censorship? Aren't they supposed to be big defenders of the libertine right to show any kind of depravity on-screen? And are they so incredibly dense that they cannot see that when the State can gag anything it pleases under the label "misinformation", it's going to gag their oh-so-precious staged perversity whenever it is convenient to do so? Atkinson is a Brit and they don't even have legal protection for the right of free-speech there. He was standing up for the right to speak your mind even if someone else considers it "insulting" which is relatively minor compared to the COVID "misinformation" assault where even MDs were being shut-down and canceled merely for raising the question of whether the vaccines were as safe as advertised. The American Left should be outraged over this. Instead, nothing but crickets.

We are living under near-Chinese levels of censorship, and all the big names who, 10 years ago, would have vociferously protested against these outrages are strangely silent. Something has changed behind the scenes while we were all distracted with other things like mask mandates and election heists. Elon Musk, Twitter, Babylon Bee, etc. these are all just stop-gap measures, they really fail to get to the root of the issue. The root of the issue is that our real influencers -- the pop-stars, media personalities, academics, religious teachers, and so on -- have all suddenly, simultaneously and mysteriously fallen as silent as stone on all of the most basic issues of modern governance, starting with the unprecedented assault on free-speech under COVID!

    Wake up, people!

Mr Bean star Rowan Atkinson confesses he feels 'duped' by the electric car trend

As you may know, the government has proposed a ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel cars from 2030. The problem with the initiative is that it seems to be based on conclusions drawn from only one part of a car’s operating life: what comes out of the exhaust pipe. Electric cars, of course, have zero exhaust emissions, which is a welcome development, particularly in respect of the air quality in city centres. But if you zoom out a bit and look at a bigger picture that includes the car’s manufacture, the situation is very different. In advance of the Cop26 climate conference in Glasgow in 2021, Volvo released figures claiming that greenhouse gas emissions during production of an electric car are 70% higher than when manufacturing a petrol one. How so? The problem lies with the lithium-ion batteries fitted currently to nearly all electric vehicles: they’re absurdly heavy, many rare earth metals and huge amounts of energy are required to make them, and they only last about 10 years. It seems a perverse choice of hardware with which to lead the automobile’s fight against the climate crisis.
