NHL. Flyers' Player Boycotts Fudge Packer Night; Marxists Express Fake Outrage

Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Ivan Provorov faced backlash for his decision to boycott the organization’s Pride night to support the LGBTQ+ community.

Provorov didn’t participate in pregame warmups when the team wore Pride-themed jerseys and used sticks wrapped in rainbow Pride tape. He cited his Russian Orthodox religion as the reason why he didn’t participate. He eventually played in the game against the Anaheim Ducks.

"I respect everybody and I respect everybody’s choices," he told reporters after the game. "My choice is to stay true to myself and my religion. That’s all I’m going to say."

I read his statement and there is nothing wrong with it. He said nothing derogatory about gays. He has the right not to participate, just like the other players have the right to participate. He obvously has no contractual obligation to if they allowed him to play in the game that night.

The people piling on this guy and calling him names are the shameful ones. They presume to know his intent and ignore his stated reasons. They are the closed minded ones.

Personally I don't mind the pride stuff and would participate if asked to. I probably wouldn't seek out events to attend on my own. I don't think any less of those who refuse to, we have to respect their rights as well.
