    Ross Perot

Anybody think he would have been best President in our lifetime

Trump’s stated positions are all the same, but this guy struck me as the real deal with financial responsibility

I'm left not knowing what to think about Perot.

It was widely reported years later that he was on the phone daily with Bill Klinton during the election.

If true, Perot saved us from the fascist globalist and handed us over to the commie/fascist globalist.

His commitment & contributions to Veterans & his community cement him as pretty freaking good guy in my book

Of course he got smeared by press once he entered political ball-field

Yes, he would have been the best since JFK.

DeSantis has all the same positions as Trump but without the controversy, scandals, crudeness, shady past business deals etc. Plus has a strong record as governor.

Hell no, he would be a white supremacist, facist, homophobic, womanizing etc etc.

People don't Read the Record. Like how many red [bad] marks are next to his name.

Is DeSantis a protectionist too? If so, that's disappointing.
There is nothing to fear from globalism, free trade and a single worldwide currency, but a globalism where free trade is competitively subsidized by each nation, a continuous trade war is dictated by the WTO, and the single currency is pure fiat, fear is justified. That type of globalism is destined to collapse into economic despair, inflationism and protectionism and managed by resurgent militant nationalism.

Maybe, don't really care. You can be one of those people who won't vote for a decent candidate because they don't conform to your pet issue or we could elect somebody with an overall very good record who we mostly agree with.

No, he was allowed to be intimidated by the Bush gang. He lacked the balls that Trump and DeSantis have.

Oh, sure. I can totally see Trump or Desantis on the ground at Gasr in Tehran.

    Not.

Your hot take leaves me very cold.

I was referring to his daughters wedding. However, Perot did not single handedly go to Tehran.

I have always wondered about the veracity of Perot's reason for dropping out.

Clinton was a quasi-good president because of the Republican Congress. It is hard for me to imagine what major issue outside of judges (maybe) Perot would have done a better job on than Clinton on. The right man won.

Then start writing "Bosnia" on a blackboard.

Next we'll start on Biden's little gem which introduced radically different sentences for people who use the form of cocaine rich white people prefer, and the form available in slums. Or don't you remember who signed off on that?

If I recall there was a poll that came out in May 1992 that said if the election were held today Perot would have won. It was around the same time that he ended up dropping out of the race then reentered the race a few months later but could not get his support back in time.

Holding spending flat outweighs everything. Plus he added the fewest regulatory employees of any modern president. He cut the capital gains rate and created Roth IRAs. Perot was a mercantilist who supported raising the income tax, capital gains rate, and tariffs.

The 90s were the most libertarian decade since the 20s.

And you think Perot would have been more fiscally irresponsible because..?

Because not starting a splendid little war and not stuffing a huge percentage of the population in federal prison during "the most libertarian decade since the 20s" would have driven up spending?

First president to meet with a North Korean leader in over half a century? I could definitely see Trump getting on a plane and meeting face to face with America's adversaries.

(and then turning it over to Pompeo, unfortunately. . . "if you want something done right . . . )
