Green Day Rocker Billie Joe Armstrong Renouncing His Citizenship over Roe Reversal: ‘$#@! America’

    SIMON KENT 26 Jun 2022

Green Day front man Billie Joe Armstrong says he is lost to the U.S. forever. On Friday night he declared “$#@! America” before adding he was “renouncing his citizenship” in the aftermath of the SCOTUS abortion ruling.

The landmark Supreme Court decision in the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health case, which overturned the long-standing 1973 Roe v. Wade judgement, sparked violent public upheaval across the country over the past 72-hours, as Breitbart News reported.

Now it has met a response across the pond.

Armstrong, 50, made his personal declaration during a Friday night concert in London, letting his audience know he believes: “There’s too much $#@!ing stupid in the world.”

The man behind American Idiot also met thunderous applause after promising the crowd he was going to move to the UK.

The Daily Mail reports he added: “Oh, I’m not kidding, you’re going to get a lot of me in the coming days.”

The call reportedly continued Saturday night at his show in Huddersfield, England.

Concertgoers claim he told the crowd “$#@! the Supreme Court of America” before playing American Idiot, which the band has previously said was written out of anger about not being represented by national leadership.

Armstrong has never disguised his political leanings.

As Breitbart News reported, in 2016 he declared Donald Trump was akin to Hitler in an interview.

In an exchange with Kerrang! magazine, the rocker weighed in on the then upcoming presidential race, saying the only thing worse than the real estate billionaire’s candidacy is the millions of people across the country who support it.

“The worst problem I see about Trump is who his followers are,” Armstrong told the magazine. “I actually feel bad for them, because they’re poor, working-class people who can’t get a leg up. They’re pissed off and he’s preyed on their anger. He just said, ‘You have no options and I’m the only one, and I’m going to take care of it myself.’ I mean, that’s $#@!ing Hitler, man!”

    What a poser!

A limo punk. Charges $100+ at some concerts. Requires vaccination at those concerts, doesn't like the politics, so he moves across the pond.

WTF happened to Punk Rock!? I wanna dig up GG Allin so that he can kick Armstrong's ass and show him what a punk really is.

Hopefully he encourages other leftists to make the same decision. A mass exodus of leftists from this country would do us some good.

He's worth $75 million - so if he does, he's going to learn how expensive it is to expatriate
IRC 877A imposes a mark-to-market regime, which generally means that all property of a covered expatriate is deemed sold for its fair market value on the day before the expatriation date. Any gain arising from the deemed sale is taken into account for the tax year of the deemed sale notwithstanding any other provisions of the Code. Any loss from the deemed sale is taken into account for the tax year of the deemed sale to the extent otherwise provided in the Code, except that the wash sale rules of IRC 1091 do not apply.

The amount that would otherwise be includible in gross income by reason of the deemed sale rule is reduced (but not to below zero) by $600,000, which amount is to be adjusted for inflation for calendar years after 2008 (the “exclusion amount”). For calendar year 2020, the exclusion amount is $737,000. For other years, refer to the Instructions for Form 8854.

The amount of any gain or loss subsequently realized (i.e., pursuant to the disposition of the property) will be adjusted for gain and loss taken into account under the IRC 877A mark-to-market regime, without regard to the exclusion amount. A taxpayer may elect to defer payment of tax attributable to property deemed sold.
... so I'm betting that will weigh into his decision.
Here at RPF, we don't promote every conspiracy theory - merely the ones we've been made aware of. If there's anything that Ron Paul followers know, it's that bad things don't just happen; bad things require dark and insidious forces acting in concert and in secret to make them happen.

75 million? I remember seeing his band play a crappy club in NJ when they were touring in a van.

I can't think of one celebrity who actually followed through and gave up citizenship.

Abortion is restricted in the UK a lot more than what Roe allowed any states in the US to have. If you like the way the UK restricts abortion, you should be glad Roe was overturned.

There is nothing to fear from globalism, free trade and a single worldwide currency, but a globalism where free trade is competitively subsidized by each nation, a continuous trade war is dictated by the WTO, and the single currency is pure fiat, fear is justified. That type of globalism is destined to collapse into economic despair, inflationism and protectionism and managed by resurgent militant nationalism.

Based on your link I disagree.

The third ground is typically interpreted liberally with regards to mental health to create a de facto state of abortion on demand, and nearly all abortions—98% in 2019 and 2020—are performed to protect the woman's mental health.[2]

That mental health grounds is only allowed up to 24 weeks gestation in the UK. In the US under Roe, mental health was an acceptable grounds all the way through the third trimester, resulting in de facto abortion on demand without limit.

True. Look at all the celebrities that swore they would leave the country if Trump got elected. They're the same celebrities that said they'd leave the country if Bush got elected/reelected.

Thanks for pointing that out. I think ignorance about what's actually factual about abortion is a big part of the cause of division over the issue.

Yep. I remember a time when "the left" had principles and were anti-authority and independent thinkers and all about individual freedoms (at least on some issues).
