Here's the "earworm" he's talking about, courtesy of one of my favorite bands.
The tune is a sea ballad from New Zealand around 1860.
In the 1830's a prosperous whaling station was set up in New Zealand by the Weller brothers. They supplied the shore based whaling operations with not only needed tools and supplies but also with luxuries, like tea and sugar and rum.
Thus, the arrival of The Weller-Man became a thing to be celebrated and looked forward to.
