The White House is close to deciding it will provide Ukraine with a cluster-armed version of the Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS), which has a range of nearly 200 miles and can be fired from HIMARS launchers, according to the Washington Post. The HIMARS in Kyiv’s possession are currently firing munitions with a range of 50 miles. The US arming Ukrainian forces with ATACMS would mark a significant escalation in the proxy war with Russia and cross Moscow’s “red line.”

Schumer additionally wants to attach a $24 billion aid package to Ukraine within the CR. The $24 billion package is separate from the $300 million in funding attached to McCarthy’s defense appropriations bill.

This is of fundamental importance for us,” the Russian leader said.

Nagorno-Karabakh is being evacuated by up to 120,000 Armenians right now. Being an exclave, based on Old World settlements going back centuries, it doesn't fit well with the strict border-oriented demands of the modern nation-state age. There are few true exclaves remaining in the world. The only reason why Kaliningrad remains is because of Russia's military power. When the current Armenian PM, Pashinyan, began turning his back on Russia, a long-time ally, many Armenians were upset. Eventually, Azerbaijan, which is beefed up with Israeli weapons, and Moroccan-granted Israeli weapons (Israel has turned Morocco into an African satellite state, which is why the US recognizes Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara), along with Turkish weapons, emboldened Azerbaijan.

With the new weapons and seeing that Armenia turned to the US over Russia, Azerbaijanis knew it was time to make a move because Russia was the only power that kept them from invading Nagoron-Karabakh all these years. They knew it was the wrong move for Armenians, especially those 120k living in the exclave, and the result today is complete loss of property for all of them.
