Are you sure he did that, or did he just run on supporting them? If so, that is a promise kept. You would never get term limits implemented if every politician who supported term limits only stayed in for 2 terms. There is no logical reason why a person cannot run on a platform of setting term limits and also run for more than 2 terms, since everybody else still follows the old rules.Originally Posted by Swordsmyth

Meh, if I elect a politician, I would prefer one who is willing to change their mind on issues if they get new information or hear a better argument. The only real promise I care about is that they are fighting for us and not just themselves or some elites promising to take care of them.

The federal government itself is fundamentally broken and cannot be revived. The best we can do is slow down it's travels in the wrong direction. That's why having people like Thomas and Rand up there are a good thing. But we also need people like them, and DeSantis, on the state level pushing back against the feds.

Elsewhere, Senators Ron Johnson (R-Wisc.), Mike Lee (R-Utah), and Rand Paul (R-Kent.) "voice their support" for term limits, without making any promise of self-imposed limits.
He did say publicly that he couldn't see himself serving more than 2 terms. He pretty much said the same thing privately too. But as far as I know he didn't make any hard commitments on the issue.
