"real history" has and will likely continue to be Lincoln hero worship.

Very few have ever been interested in "real" history.

I graduated HS in '83. I was taught that slavery was bad and that the indigenous peoples of North America were screwed. What I didn't get taught was that the sins of the great-great-great grandfather are the sins of the great-great-great grandson.

Might be a troll. Might not be. But the fact that you can't quite be sure says more than enough.

Sometimes I don't think we're divided enough. One reason you get candidates with positions clear as mud is because things are so mixed up in this country you can't tell conservatives from liberals or liberals from conservatives. Draw the line and put a wall between 'em. Let's see once-and-for-all whose ideas are better. No crossing over if you screw up. Sleep in your own poopy beds.

Jackson and Lincoln $#@!ed this country hard. If it weren't for them we'd be in 4 different nations all individually happy as a pig in $#@!.

But nope couldn't let that happen. Lincoln's "Indivisible union" is root of all problems

Enough with the analogies - if a vote for this Youngkin fella stems the emergent tide of socialist indoctrination even a little, we're better off than if McAuliffe would have won, if only incrementally. Increments matter in times like this.

I agree with you - they both suck, and they're both trying to gut the country, but they also have constituencies to cater toward - that the R faction has an *incrementally* smaller government constituency to cater toward means that they are, at this point, the unfortunately preferred option. It's not a preference, it's just a threat assessment. I think any liberty minded person should be able to see that D victories will INCREASE the rate of the expansion of the state incrementally more rapidly than R victories. That's not an endorsement of the R faction. It's just... again... threat assessment.
What people don't seem to grasp is that it's merely a changing of window dressing in order to settle the other side down before they start going ape$#@!, while the globalist agenda carries on. It's public relations management, that's all. They're not slowing anything down. No more than Trump signing the USMCA slowed down the NAU and signing trillions bailing out corporations and blue states over covid fakery and being the spokesman for the clotshots. They're just offering a different PR spin for the same agenda. THEY'RE ALL RICH WEF/UN FOOTSOLDIERS AND THAT'S ALL THAT ULTIMATELY MATTERS. I mean jeez, this Youngkin guy built damn near his entire investment firm on WAR PROFITEERING yet he's somehow going to slow down war-making? He practically sold the bullets to the MIC! I dunno, seems like the perfect guy to insert for helping to turn war inward....

WTF are you talking about? I KNOW it's "merely changing the window dressing"... didn't you read me say that like 5 times??

And what the $#@! does the governor of VA have to do with war-making?? You're getting high off your own supply, dude.

How many times do I need to say "incrementally", and "buying time"??

The long term NJ Senate president, a well connected party poohbah and Democrat icon, is on the verge of losing his seat to a trucker, who ran because he was pissed off that NJ will not grant him a CCW permit, and spent $153 bucks on his campaign.

    That's encouraging.

You fools! You all actually think Youngkin is exactly like Ron Paul!?!? I can't believe the gulibility! Those parents fighting marxism at the school board meetings are holograms! If they do exist they are just racists. No one will stand up with you. It's hopeless. You are alone. Just succumb to the borg already!

It should be. But some seem to think it is the left/right paradigm trap and in no way, shape or form should it be given legitimacy through participation. Which is fine. Although why they are on a forums bitching and moaning about those that do is beyond me. Might as well just tape a piece of cardboard stating "Sovereign Citizen - $#@! off Cops" where their license plates should be and get on with their lives.

It wouldn't be so bad if you didn't accuse everyone of that who doesn't dance a jig every time Lindsay Graham is reelected.

I'll take him 1 million times over McAuliff any day of the week. Hands down.
If you are not happy about the change over in Virginia then I don't know what to tell you. It was a repudiation of the Marxist propaganda. Plain and simple. If that doesn't make you happy then I guess you are going to be disappointed on these forums for a long time.
This tool is no more a blank slate than Trump was. Anyone with eyes in his head could see Trump was a connected, crooked panderer and it's nearly as obvious about this guy.

As for "sending a message", I watched GOP voters broadcast their disapproval over abortion for 48 years without ever even once holding one single politician's feet to the fire over the issue. What did that accomplish?

2021 Is on Track to Become the Most Devastating Antiabortion State Legislative Session in Decades

Right-wing ideologues are engaging in a shock and awe campaign against abortion rights that is largely getting lost against the background of a broader attack on other basic rights, including a wave of voter suppression laws and attacks on LGBTQ people.

The number of abortion restrictions—and specifically bans on abortion designed to directly challenge Roe v. Wade and the U.S. constitutional right to abortion—that have swiftly been enacted over the past five months is unprecedented. If this trend continues, 2021 will end up as the most damaging antiabortion state legislative session ever.

Tallying the Damage in 2021 so Far
Since January, there have been 561 abortion restrictions, including 165 abortion bans, introduced across 47 states (all counts current as of June 7, 2021). A whopping 83 of those restrictions have been enacted across 16 states, including 10 bans.

Jfc dude, why do I need to remind anyone that Rand endorsed flip-flop $#@!ing Romney while Ron was still an active candidate?

Rand has done some good but his endorsement means less than nothing.

So does excoriating those that participate in the "left/right paradigm politics." It means less than nothing because it accomplishes less than nothing. But, do you, man. Do you.

And to be clear I ACTUALLY VOTED FOR YOUNGKIN, but not because I feel anything for him that comes within an astronomical unit of liking him.

I voted for him because I've been told for the last couple years that I'm a bad person and we ahould give political power to people who will come after me.

And thousands of others did too, but at no point will any of the rest of them stop to process how 'illegal immigrants' vote the way they do for the exact same reason.

There's very little to be happy about in VA today. Relieved, sure. But not happy.
