TAPACHULA (Reuters) - Several thousand migrants from Haiti, South America and Central America set off from southern Mexico headed north on Saturday, clashing with law enforcement trying to hold the caravan back.

Some people among the latest mass movement of migrants trying to pass north through Mexico said they hoped to eventually reach the U.S. border, where the number of migrants trying to gain entry was already hitting new records.

Activists and migrants began this Monday, September 13, in the municipality of Tapachula , in the southeastern Mexican state of Chiapas, a fast to ask to be allowed to leave in a caravan heading north.

A quick Google search brings up media reports that the caravan is being coordinated by Pueblo Sin Fronteras. It’s pretty easy to find this information. And despite many Democrat protests that this has nothing to do with any US organizations, a Spanish name for the group does not hide the fact that it is a US organization.

According to their own website, their committee locations are San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego and Tijuana. If you go to their donation page, it takes you to a Paypal page that says that Oakland, Ca is where the donations go.

I thought it was strange that they were spending all that money marching them north for weeks, bringing water in and all the logistics, when charter flights could in fact be cheaper. I didn't think the caravan had enough PR value for that to make sense.

But if your whole purpose is to drive a large herd of humans long enough for the parents to become separated from their children...
