Facebook seems to have been nuked. Cannot access it for at least three hours, which is a very long time to be down for an operation of that size.

So a "whistleblower" stages an "expose" on 60 Minutes saying the platform needs more censorship "for the children", and the new programming algorithms go in the very next morning.

I'd be happy to... I don't use FB or IG. Unfortunately Whatsapp is a good resource for free international calls. And since I do tens of hours of that a month... That does save a few bucks.

I suppose if you seriously believe 60 Minutes to be something other than a Total Tool, you could believe this is all a coincidence, or that hackers are "protesting" fedbook's lack of child protection censorship.
Not having the slightest doubt about the true nature of CBS' "magazine", I'm torn. Did Zuckerberg grow a conscience and a pair, and threaten to go off the reservation? Or is this just cover for the downtime needed for installing new, more invasive software?
All I know is, I'm not buying any coincidence theories.

The unusual wrinkle to the FB outage is that the DNS records were wiped out completely. It apparently wasn't an internal platform crash. Even the facebook.com domain was briefly listed as for sale because the DNS records were gone. That's not really something that just happens and especially not to such a prominent site. Stay on toes y'all.

In her Congressional testimony opening statement today, it took her about 30 seconds to veer away from the "for the children" cover story and right into the censorship agenda about divisiveness spreading violent reactions, misinfo, etc and how Congress must act to address it. Hearing just started but I figure it won't take long before questioning goes off into that tangent and leaves the children cover story behind. She's a Harvard MBA with a huge big tech resume so, for me, she's already suspect as a likely plant.
