In 1972, the Council for a Livable World, whose chairman was Albert Gore Sr. (the father of the Noble prize winning mr. climate change), helped to get Joe Biden first elected to the US Senate.

The “pacifist” Council for a Livable World was founded in 1962 as the Council for Abolishing War by Hungarian nuclear physicist Leó Szilárd (part of the Manhattan Project), who in 1957 was present at the first Pugwash conference (affiliated with the Belfer Center).

Geneticist Matthew Meselson is a board member of the National Advisory Board of the Council for a Livable World, the Belfer Center board member, CFR, and also the Royal Society.

In 1971, Maurice Strong was a founding member of Princes Bernhard's and Philip's 1001 Club.
In 1978-1981, Strong was Vice-President of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), when Philip was its president.

In 1995, Strong headed a Massachusetts-based company called Molten Metal Technology, Inc. (MMTI), whose market value was boosted by more than $25 million in grants from Clinton's US Department of Energy (DOE). On “Earth Day” in April 1995, Al Gore travelled to MMTI’s headquarters and praised the firm for its environmentally responsible work.
Even though the company had no sources of revenue other than the taxpayer's funding, Gore’s praise caused its stock value to soar to $35 per share.From March to October 1996, 7 MMTI officers — including Maurice Strong — quietly sold $15.3 million worth of MMTI shares (for the inflated about $35 per share). MMTI’s stock later plunged to $5 per share.

In 2000 and 2001, the Joyce Foundation, made a $1.1 million grant to establish the Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX).
The Joyce Foundation board featured one Barack Obama, while Maurice Strong became one of CCX’s directors.

Maurice Strong worked closely with the previously mentioned Mark Malloch Brown.
Lord Malloch Brown was selected as President of Soros’ Open Society Foundations.

In November 1998, the Belfer Center published "Catastrophic Terrorism: Tackling the New Danger", authored by Belfer Center Director Ashton Carter, later Obama's Secretary of Defense; John Deutsch, former CIA director; Philip Zelikow, who later chaired the 9/11 Commission.

In this article they warn/predict a terrorist attack, like the 1993 attack on the World Trade Center, that could serve as a "transforming event":

Like Pearl Harbor, the event would divide our past and future into a before and after. The United States might respond with draconian measures scaling back civil liberties, allowing wider surveillance of citizens, detention of suspects and use of deadly force. More violence could follow, either future terrorist attacks or U.S. counterattacks. Belatedly, Americans would judge their leaders negligent for not addressing terrorism more urgently.

In 1995, Zelikow co-authored a book with Condoleezza Rice, Bush's national security advisor.
Zelikow then became a member of the Bush jr. transition team.
Zelikow continued as a member of Bush's post-9/11 Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board.

In 2002, Zelikow authored the Bush administration's 2002 "National Security Strategy" that detailed the preemptive war doctrine that would be used to invade Iraq.
The document was however released under George W. Bush’s signature, so when the 9/11 Commission was formed, its (future) commissioners didn't know it had been written by Zelikow.

Just 3 months after the 9/11 commission started its 16-month "investigation", in March 2003, Zelikow with commission consultant Ernest May (both of the little known Belfer Center), co-wrote a draft of the 9/11 commission final report, including chapters, headings and subheadings.

Then in February 2005, Zelikow became Condoleezza Rice’s special adviser.

Member of the notorious Belfer Center, Richard Clarke, has promoted the tale that the CIA (and FBI) “knew” in advance that Al Qaeda was planning a terrorist attack, and also about multiple 9/11 hijackers that without proper flight training supposedly crashed 3 huge passenger planes into buildings that disappeared without a trace (the 4th plane also mysteriously disappeared after supposedly crashing, after heroic intervention by the passengers on the plane).
Richard Clarke’s ties to the Saudi and Abu Dhabi royals (UAE) seem more interesting, if they are true that is which I cannot verify (and it seems hard to believe, unless stories about the Abu Dhabi royals are blatantly censored, we would’ve heard about this!)…

Richard Clarke tipped off Bin Laden’s high-ranking UAE and Saudi friends, preventing the capture or killing of the terrorist mastermind.
In September 1994, high-ranking UAE and Saudi government ministers, including UAE dictator Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (!), Abu Dhabi royal Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum and Saudi minister Prince Turki al-Faisal, started bird hunting trips in Afghanistan, with Bin Laden:

In early February 1999, Richard Clarke met Al-Maktoum, who financed the Taliban and al-Qaeda. Also in 1999, Richard Clarke personally sabotaged 2 CIA attempts to kill or capture Bin Laden.
The first of these was when the CIA learned that Osama was hunting with UAE royals in Afghanistan, and President Clinton couldn’t authorise attacking the camp, as Clarke voted down that plan (it seems unlikely that Clarke could vote down the president!).
The second time, when the CIA was again preparing to take Bin Laden out during another Afghanistan hunting trip, Clarke alerted his UAE buddies that the CIA was monitoring their meetings with Bin Laden, who in turn tipped off Bin Laden (so the CIA’s plan was sabotaged).

Osama’s UAE hunting buddy Sheikh Al-Maktoum later tried to take over 6 major US ports, which failed despite George W. Bush’s lobbying.

Clarke also promoted lies about a man called Abu Zubaydah, whose torture testimony is behind much of the 9/11 Commission Report.
In 2009, even the US government admitted that all of those claims were false and Zubaydah was never associated with al Qaeda!

In the 1980s, Clarke was President Reagan’s Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Intelligence. In that role, Clarke negotiated for US military bases in Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, and Saudi Arabia.
In 1984, Clarke took part in the secret Continuity of Government (COG) program, which also included as members: Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, George H.W. Bush, Kenneth Duberstein, and James Woolsey. The COG was first activated during the attacks of 11 September 2001. This installed a shadow government as an “indefinite precaution”, it isn’t clear to me when (if?) this shadow government actually ended.

George H.W. Bush also appointed Richard Clarke as Assistant Secretary of State for Politico-Military Affairs, until 1992. In this role Secretary of Defense Dick Cheney asked him to coordinate relations with the UAE. Since then, Clarke negotiated so many deals with the Emirates, that he essentially became a UAE agent, very close to the Abu Dhabi royal family.
In the early 1990s, the Abu Dhabi royals took over full ownership of the Bank of Credit and Commerce International (BCCI).

Bush then appointed named Clarke to the National Security Council staff as Special Assistant to the President and he became chairman of the Interagency Counterterrorism Committee.
In the summer of 1994, Clarke played a leading role in orchestrating the Rwanda genocide.

In 2013, President Obama appointed Richard Clarke to his advisory panel on NSA spying.
In 2014, Clarke was the chairman of Good Harbor Consulting, working with many people that made a fortune off the War on Terror. Good Harbor has an office in Abu Dhabi.
