    Dr. Seuss

    Another day, another cancellation.

Yesterday, it was Mr. Potato Head. Today, it’s Dr. Seuss.

March 2 marks Read Across America Day, a national recognition of Dr. Seuss’ birthday for more than 20 years. Now, a liberal educator group dubbed “Learning for Justice”
is demanding Dr. Seuss‘ books be stripped from school libraries because of their “racial undertones.”

The Daily Wire reported districts such as Loudoun County Public Schools in Virginia have already told its teachers to “avoid connecting Read Across America Day with Dr. Seuss.”

“Realizing that many schools continue to celebrate ‘Read Across America Day’ in partial recognition of Dr. Seuss’ birthday, it is important for us to be cognizant of research that may challenge our practice in this regard,” Loudoun County Schools said in an announcement as reported by the Daily Wire. “As we become more culturally responsive and racially conscious, all building leaders should know that in recent years there has been research revealing radical undertones in the books written and the illustrations drawn by Dr. Seuss.”

Um, what? Are the Whos down in Whoville too White?

    Yes, apparently, they are.

Dr. Seuss did produce some pretty cringe stuff ...

I don't recall any of that crap making it into any of his books, though (at least, not the ones I ever read).

But you find what you look for.

In any case, I'm pretty damn sure the appropriate response to Dr. Seuss (whatever one may think of his stuff) is not to "become more ... racially conscious."

As I've pointed out elsewhere though, the "woke" are thoroughgoingly racialist bigots, so of course, they react to perceived racism - real or imagined - by promoting yet more racism. Just like the KKK et al.

War propaganda always looks about the same. Would it be as bad if Dr. Seuss had drawn krauts bayoneting babies?

And it would be perfectly acceptable today for some Marxian war propagandist to draw a cartoon making fun of white people.

It does. And it's almost always cringeworthy, especially when it features depictions of the "enemy."

(And a domestic "enemy among us" is much better at fanning the flames of fear and hysteria than baby-bayonetters on the other side of the world.)

It would not. Krauts are white Europeans, after all, so they have a very low IQ (Intersectionality Quotient). That makes them fair game.

It would. That's how racism works. The Woke just reverse the "polarity" of it.

But it's all stupid, ugly and vicious, no matter which way the current flows.

And it’s always so complicated. IIRC, Dr. Seuss was a big supporter of Jewish immigration to the US when things weren’t looking so good in Europe pre-WWII. One might say that attacking Dr. Seuss is anti-Semitic. Are the new Marxian propagandists in the US anti-Semitic?

As a matter of fact they are, and that is where the real threat to US Jews comes from, the Marxist golem they themselves created.

The current crisis requires that I harden myself enough to find nothing "cringeworthy" anymore.
