PA delaying second doses to get numbers up on first doses

For weeks, state officials have been blaming much of Pennsylvania’s slow COVID-19 vaccine rollout on providers unnecessarily holding back doses to make sure people got second doses when needed.

In fact, they forcefully urged providers not to hold back doses, assuring them the second of the two required doses would be available when needed.

Beam also said the mistake can be corrected with little or no harm. That can largely be accomplished by rescheduling appointments for second Moderna doses. While people generally receive their second dose within about 28 days, Beam said some could wait up to 42 days for their second dose, which would still fall under federal guidelines.

Individuals 16 years of age and older
COVID-19 mRNA Vaccine BNT162b2 is administered intramuscularly after dilution as a series of two doses (0.3 mL each) 21 days apart (see section 5.1).
There are no data available on the interchangeability of COVID-19 mRNA Vaccine BNT162b2 with other COVID-19 vaccines to complete the vaccination series. Individuals who have received one dose of COVID-19 mRNA Vaccine BNT162b2 should receive a second dose of COVID-19 mRNA Vaccine BNT162b2 to complete the vaccination series.

In Study 2, approximately 44,000 participants 12 years of age and older were randomised equally and received 2 doses of COVID-19 mRNA Vaccine or placebo with a planned interval of 21 days. The efficacy analyses included participants that received their second vaccination within 19 to 42 days after their first vaccination.

The efficacy analysis was done on the entire population, not just those on the 42 day end of the bell curve. PA may as well be giving doses to 12 yo's. The FDA document says 16, the the far end of the age bell curve was 12 in the supporting study. These are the people of "trust the science"?
