There is nothing unprecedented about the COVID pandemic, not even by the numbers given us by all the alarmist government organizations and their media allies. Globally it's no worse than flu pandemics of 1958 and 1968, and far less severe than notable pandemics prior to those.
These things happen from time to time. Life goes on. Except for the people who die. And I'm sorry to say it, but people die. All the time. People not dying isn't one of the options available to us.
There will be more pandemics like this one in our lifetimes. The expectation that pandemics like this will arise at some time is one we live our lives with. We may not know the day or the hour, but we do know they'll happen. And they will be the cause for some of us dying.
What is unprecedented is the response. This heretofore unheard of expectation that everyone in the world has to stop living their lives, and that somehow we can game the system and stop pandemics if we do that.
It's so backwards it's just incredible. This is anti-scientific, medieval level premodern thinking. In fact, one of the major reasons that pandemics don't get as severe anymore as they sometimes did in centuries past is precisely because of the high level of international commerce that we have today, spreading germs and immunity, so that we no longer have whole populations of dry tinder waiting to be overwhelmed by new viruses. It's as if New Zealand wants to revert back to that.
